"Not that bad, huh?" He echoed with a wry smile. "That's a lukewarm sentiment if I've ever heard one. We're not exactly the life of the party tonight, are we?"
It was the understatement of the century if he'd ever heard one. Perched at the bar in his armor and an odd feeling of lightness that had him tethered to glasses of liquor, he felt faintly ridiculous. He was struggling to think back and recall exactly why he'd thought that coming to the ball was a good idea - but every time that he tried to grasp onto the thought, it slipped just beyond his reach to hover at the edges of his mind where he couldn't really be too concerned.
