Dillinger's costume was not entirely made up firm chance, but it was the kind of costume that a few visits to a second hand store (or a tailor) would fix up pretty quick. He laughed at the riot officer's reply. "That takes balls," he said appreciatively, very much enjoying the idea of a riot officer missing his gear for some reason. Maybe because his imagination supplied the sight of one going out in nothing at all and pretending, like the emperor and his new clothes. The gangster was diverted by the ridiculous.
He shook his head as he stared out at the milling people, all glancing around as if trying to develop x-Ray vision. "Damn," Dillinger said. "I need to find a woman in this place. Later, brother. Watch the shield on the dance floor." He took a final drink, and he was gone.
