Who: Bunny & Bourne
What: THERE ARE NEEDLES IN THE REACH OF LITTLE CHILDRENS (or so Jess has alerted her via the forums.)
Where: The Bathos
When: Referring to this, but after this and this.
Warnings: Flaily girl, grumpy guy.

After getting a definitive answer, the blonde girl had shown up at his doorstep and began to knock furiously. It wasn't hard to figure out which apartment he lived in after being over at Chris'. Now that she thought about it, he hadn't warned her when she said she was going to up see him, did he? So meeting random nice guys on the internet couldn't be all that bad, if he wasn't telling him not to talk to random nice guys in the building...or something. She probably shouldn't have been thinking about that on the way up...mainly because she was starting to forget why she'd gone up there in the first place.

While she was waiting, she tried really hard. She didn't come up here to yell at him or anything. He was a cop, right? She should've asked that, but she could ask that now that she was here! He looked like a cop. He was buff and had like a cop haircut and that grizzled cop look on his face going. She never asked people what they did for a living, but hey! He was a good guy too! He had tried to protect her from sex predators on the internet, so he had to be some sort of law thing. As long as it wasn't a lawyer, or something equally as evil. She'd probably have to stake him in the face.

That would be unfortunate. His face was pretty. The thought of staking reminded of her sticking which reminded her of needles. YES! She was back on track!

Bourne had been more than a little bemused when he received the message asking him if he was home or not. He barely knew the girl for one (and evidently if she'd messaged him out of the blue she clearly hadn't been paying attention to his suggestion), and for another aside from Chris he rarely had visitors. But the pounding on his door implied otherwise and so, after dismissing it at first, he let out a reluctant grunt at nobody in particular and made his way to the door. A peek through the peephole showed a small blonde waiting not-so-patiently outside, so, after a moment's deliberation (she'd seemed in need, or at least he assumed, and his heroic tendencies dictated that he needed to try to fix it) he opened the door, greeting her with a blank look. "You'd be...Bunny?"

"Yes! I'd be Bunny and--" She took a moment to take him in again. He was really not that bad to look at, but yes, he totally had the cop hair! "You're a cop right? You have that hair, that I'm totally going to shoot you in the face if you don't knock off that evil tone, the really intensely serious stare, and your friends with Chris, and tried to help me." She'd kind of gotten lost in the whole listing of things for a minute before she came back around to realizing that she was indeed talking to someone.

"OH! Right! There is a box of needles in the lobby and Jess and I were talking about--Jess just moved in-- about how kids have access to those needles and who knows what they'll do and what if they start playing stab tag with whatever it is they're trying to give us? They aren't smart enough to stay out of free drugs, unless they've gone through D.A.R.E, but I forget what grade they start teaching that in..." Her eyes made a circle as she tried to remember before she gave it up completely. "Anyway. Cop. Serve and protect. We have to do something about the drugs!"

"It hasn't been proven effective anyway," he offered absently, arms folded across his chest, still trying to process exactly what was going on. Bourne wasn't a stupid man, but the sheer amount of words fit into so small a time period was enough to overwhelm him at first (he didn't have a whole lot of experience with enthusiastic and possibly sugar-high girls), and it took him a few minutes to work through it all and separate the important from the noise.

"I'm not a cop," he added, frowning in distaste at the idea. Not that he had anything against the local law, but he'd had significantly greater authority back in Musings, and while currently he held the civilian equivalent of his old position with none of the authority, he still thought it was worth more. Spy trumped cop any day of the week, as far as he was concerned. It didn't affect his response to the idea that the dealers had finally pushed the boundaries beyond anything resembling common decency, however. Not that they were decent people, but there were rules, and leaving drugs out in the open like that was unacceptable. "Alright, I'll take care of it. How long has the box been there?" He would have noticed it himself, but he'd been cooped up inside all day sleeping off the last mission, so he hadn't had a chance to leave the apartment yet.

"Hey, D.A.R.E. is awesome, 'kay thanks," she said defensively. She still had her shirt from like...1990 something in a box in the back of her closet.

When he said he wasn't a cop, she looked a little confused. "Army?" It didn't really matter much, because when he started going on about taking care of it anyway, she was all bounce. That was good! "Ex-cop?" Okay, she wasn't entirely letting it go. "Anyway, so there's not only a box here, but there are boxes in the other two buildings. I dunno if they have cops there either, but it's probably good to go get all of them, right? I mean you can't leave free drug stuff around poor people...or rich people...although rich people probably get free drugs anyway."

It was probably some terrible stereotyping coming from her, considering she looked harmless enough. "The Hamartia is in like the worst part of town, like the worst. I've been there a few times, and it is SO creepy."

"Ex-marine," he provided, more so she would stop asking than anything else. It was an easier answer than "I used to be a spy for the government and now I spy privately," anyway.

Bourne continued to listen to her talk, or bubble, more like. Her manner of speech reminded him of a guy he'd known back in his marine days, a lieutenant who'd gotten a piece of shrapnel lodged in his lung and needed a tube stuck in his chest to help keep the pressure off his lungs and help him breathe. He'd managed about a week before he eventually died of sepsis, but when he was in the makeshift ICU on base blood foamed and bubbled out of the end of the tube when he tried to talk, just like Bunny.

...Nobody ever said he didn't have his morbid moments.

"...So you want me to go around and collect all these boxes and get 'em to the cops or something?"

"Ha!" Bunny loved being right, and it did not happen often so she had to relish these moments. Okay, so she wasn't exactly spot on correct, but he was definitely some sort of law...thing with the hair. It was definitely the hair that gave him away. That smug feeling died off when the part about him spying privately actually sank in. "Creepy much."

When he repeated the objective, she nodded. "Well, you used to work for the government, so that means you're used to this sort of thing and know what to do with it, right? I mean, spies have training in this stuff, right?" She was already here and couldn't think of going to see someone else over this sort of thing. She was definitely starting to calm down a lot more now that she was actually doing something. "Are we going?" Make no mistake, she was not planning on sitting idly by while he did all the work!

He rolled his eyes. "It's not...It's a private company. Not peeping tom kinda stuff." Not that it mattered, but he felt better getting that cleared up; he didn't want her thinking he was some kind of creeper.

"It's picking up boxes, nothing really covert about it. But yeah, we're going." He checked to make sure he had his keys before heading into the hallway, pulling the door closed behind him.
