Laughing at Jackie's enthusiasm as well as the memory of the last time she'd tried to use a gun Nathan felt himself relaxing a bit more. He had long ago mastered the ability to ignore thoughts he didn't like, at least for a little while. He'd have to address it eventually he knew but for now he would just enjoy the moment without over analysis things. "Well they might have if you hadn't apparently pissed off the waiter. What did you do to the poor guy anyway?" he teased. Still despite his best attempts to push the thoughts of Jackie and romantic feelings aside it was hard when the detective did things like call him Jackie's boy.
He wondered if perhaps he should start to think of the detective as Jen or Jennifer if they were going to keep getting pushed into social situations together because of Jackie. Of course he felt like she was the over protective parent who would cut off his balls with a rusty spoon if made a wrong move so it was rather difficult to think of her as casually as Jen. Or at least it was for now.
He scanned the menu half heartedly figuring he'd just go for a burger or some other meat based meal. Meat was good. Hell after the morning he'd had he was seriously considering that beer Jackie had suggested. It was five o'clock somewhere and he felt alcohol might be necessary to survive another car ride with the detective.
