Maddie Kate had managed to secure her Monday off, for which she was incredibly grateful. For the first time in a long time, she had had an eventful weekend -- getting a roommate out of Callie, spending time with both Wren and Isobel, early morning auditions. Most often, her life was spent with work, work, work, so being that busy over the weekend left MK slightly drained by Sunday evening. Monday was a blessing, then, and she savored it readily, sleeping through the morning and into the early afternoon. She spent the rest of the day lazing around her apartment, catching up on her TV shows and reading some magazines from her steadily growing pile of subscriptions. While flicking through one of the magazines, a recipe for chicken parmigiana caught her eye that she wanted to try. It seemed simple enough, and she was sure that she had all the ingredients in her fridge. After going through the list of necessary things, she found each one and placed it on the counter. Everything seemed to be in order, and she began to heat up the oven and mix the ingredients in a bowl. "Just need the -- goddammit," she mumbled to herself. Only one damn egg. Normally, she would have just given up and ordered in, but since she had spent the whole day laying on her couch, she wanted to do something. She considered her options and decided to ask to borrow an egg from one of her fellow Hamartians.
Despite being in Hamartia almost a year, MK honestly didn't know many of her neighbors, and those that she did were just from random interactions in the lobby or hallway. She planned, however, to ask for just one egg, and if the risk didn't pay off, she'd just go with her back-up plan. Still in her black tank top from the night before, she slipped on a pair of jeans (Maddie didn't sleep with pants on often) and her flip-flops and walked to the door directly across the hall from her. She rapped on the door lightly and leaned on the doorframe as she waited for an answer. MK didn't know the occupant of the apartment, but she prayed it was not some ridiculously ornery old man or a person with an attitude. She was in too good of a mood to deal with that today.
