She noticed him almost as soon as he arrived, and she couldn't help but feel a ridiculous leap of her heart as she saw him. It had been so long since they'd talked. They hadn't even so much as seen each other since the debacle in Rome with Angela. Thinking back to that, Sydney couldn't help the small tendril of confusion wrap itself around her mind again. What had he been doing helping her back then, anyway?
As he spoke though, she pushed the thought out of her mind. With a coy smile, she replied, "Well, I was waiting for someone, but I think you look far more interesting, so go ahead and take a seat." She moved her phone off the table, slipping it into her purse and shaking her head at his question. "No, not at all. I like having a moment to sit and people-watch before meeting up with someone, especially someone who I have history with like we do."
Oops. Had she said that? What the fuck, that wasn't really what she'd meant to say. Oh well, it was out there now, and hopefully he'd react well to it.
