My name is Kathleen Ehrlich-Cohen, your Board has hired me to oversee your Public Relations department. I do not officially begin work until Monday morning, however in light of your current situation I am inclined to get a head start.
I have spent the majority of today reviewing your communications and PR staff files and familiarizing myself with your current communications plans and operating procedures. In order to identify areas for improvement and explore new avenues for the future of this department it is important to start within the department.
By COB tomorrow I will have a preliminary plan mapped out and will send it for your approval, or if you would rather, someone else to whom you have delegated sign off authority. Upon receipt of approval the communications plan will be ready for immediate implementation by the members of the current PR team. The communications plan will include a time line and immediate steps for dealing with the current climate as well as PR operations going forward.
It is my experience that plans come much more easily than implementation. Rest assured that I have been involved in the overhaul of several Marketing and PR divisions of more than one multi-billion dollar corporation and several smaller organizations over the years. I have found that the most efficient method of implementing a new communications plan is ensuring that each member of the team knows exactly what is expected of them. A team must work cohesively and a PR team should be a well oiled machine.
It is likely that the plan will include a few title changes for current staff as well as smaller divisions within in the Communications department. It is important not to re-invent the wheel when approaching a project such as this. I intend to work with what we currently have at our disposal, and improving said wheel.
For your review, I have attached my CV as well as my corporate biographical information. Mr. Brandon, I look forward to working with you in the future and I'd like to extend my gratitude for this opportunity.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have further questions. I am available if you would like to set up a call or face to face meeting for any questions or concerns you might have.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Ehrlich-Cohen
