Minor Injury Meme

A meme for those minor injuries that won't leave you down but make it hard to live your life. The breaks, sprains, and the hurt/comfort that comes with them.

INJURIES

1. SPRAIN: you stepped the wrong way, twisted the wrong way, and something has gone terribly wrong. Just remember RICE - Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation.

2. FRACTURE: You step off the sidewalk, working in the backyard, and suddenly BAM!! But it's not a sprain, oh no, you're in a cast for the duration. Good luck trying to get to work.

3. PULLED: It's not bad enough for medical attention but it still hurts something fierce. Break out the tiger balm or someone to give you a hand because you've pulled something. That awkward moment when you think you want vicodin...and nobody will give it to you.

4. MIGRAINE: Light hurts, air hurts, moving hurts. All you can do is lie in a darkened room and pray for the pounding pain to go away behind your eyes.

5. THE FLU: Maybe you're physically fine – well… all your limbs are working. You just feel like death warmed over.

6. WILDCARD: Anything else you can think of.

SCENARIOS

1. INJURED! WHAT NEXT?: You're out working, you're out having fun, you're out doing something when suddenly you step, twist, move and our bodies demonstrate just how fragile they really are. Quick! someone call the ambulance!

2. THE EMERGENCY ROOM: All the fun of a waiting room with rewards that include crutches, casts, X-Rays, vicodin, and sometimes just that one nurse who says "Yeah there's nothing wrong with you that'll be 400 dollars."

3. HOME AND SETTING UP THE NEST: Hurt, trying to make a space for you to get around. Hopefully someone is there to help you get to your crutches so you can go to the bathroom and make yourself something to eat.

4. PHYSICAL THERAPY HOME EDITION: The obligatory smut option. Do you not see that I'm wearing this cast?

5. OH GOD HELP I'M GOING TO DIE: That awkward moment when the fact that you are bedridden is crushing down on you and you're terrified you'll do something to make the injury worse. Snappish, angry, and rude - who are you going to take it out on?

6. DRIVE ME TO THE DOCTOR THIS SHIT IS COMING OFF: It's time, they say you can come in, take it off, and begin the next stage of recovery. Failing that, you’re going to grab a saw and cut the damn thing off yourself! Will there be joy, laughter, crying, happiness?

7. WILDCARD: Anything else you can think of.

"I'm a Jersey girl. Pretty sure guardian angels don't come from New Jersey," she said, pressing firmer on Quinn's injuries to try to slow the blood flow. Her hands were already wet with Quinn's blood. That wasn't a good sign. It was soaking through the material far too quickly.

"Hey, stay awake. Tell me about what kind of apartment you want to get. Keep talking to me."

"Um, anything that's as far away from them as possible." Quinn said, willing her eyes to stay open. She couldn't imagine actually dying, and she knew that that was a possibility. Quinn struggled to keep her eyes from filling with tears. She didn't want to show weakness. As stupid as that was, it was still ingrained in her to not show weakness.

Taking as deep a breath as she could, she said, "As soon as I told them that I'm gay it got even worse. Apparently having a lesbian for a daughter is the worst thing that can happen to a family from Encino."

"I'm sorry your parents are small-minded dicks. Plenty of folk in Encino are, it seems. It's like it's where all the dicks, assholes and morons merge under the guise of being civilised people just because they have money."

Danielle kept pressure on the wounds. "So is that why you're in Reseda? Looking for places? Word of advice, don't rent at the South Seas apartment complex. It's a dump. It's where my ma and I live. My best friend is the maintenance man and he does what he can but there's only so much he can do, y'know?"

She looked around, as best she could. "If it gets me closer to you, I could look here." She said, her hazel eyes looking up at Danielle. She seriously was one of the hottest girls Quinn had ever seen in her life. She couldn't help but flirt.

Plus, she hadn't had a girlfriend before, unless you counted Rachel, but they'd only hooked up a few times. She had loved her, but Rachel hadn't been in love with her. "And yeah, I bet managing a building can be tough. I could..... buy it? Help fix it up?" Her money was unlimited, she could make that happen.

	Danielle laughed softly despite herself. The situation was no laughing matter, but it just bubbled out of her. Only she could have someone try to flirt with her while she was covered in their blood. "Hey! Hey... listen to me. Listen, okay? You're not going to die. Not here. Not on a dirty Reseda street. Know how I know that? Because I'm your guardian angel, right? Well it's my job to keep you alive."

Danielle really hoped the ambulance arrived soon. Then she'd have to text Johnny and the guys to tell them she wouldn't make it for shakes. She had worn her brand new matching lacy bra and panties too. Damn it.

"So trust me, okay? You're not gonna die."

"I do trust you." Quinn replied, she'd just met Danielle, and she couldn't tell exactly why she did. There was the noise, and suddenly the ambulance arrived, but she didn't feel any relief. She still felt like she was on her last day on this mortal coil.

Quinn let out a breath as the EMTs came at her, and she supposed they'd be able to triage her enough that she'd die in the hospital. They were asking her a lot of questions, and she tried to tell them that she hadn't really seen the men who'd attacked her, it had happened so fast and they'd hit her while she'd been being raped.

She tried to keep her hazel eyes on Danielle, she wasn't going to make it through this without her.

Danielle gave Quinn a reassuring smile as she answered the EMT's questions. She knew it couldn't be easy to talk about the attack, but Quinn was doing great. As soon as she was able to, Danielle took hold of her hand, sitting beside her in the ambulance.

She wiped as much blood off of her free hand as she could before pulling out her phone so she could text Johnny, Bobby and the guys to let them know she wouldn't be able to make it, that she was on her way to the hospital but she was fine.

She also sent Johnny a picture of herself that she had taken earlier in front of her mirror in her brand new underwear along with an apology and a promise to make it up to him next time.

"See? Told you you're gonna be okay. Hospital will patch you up in no time."

"Let's hope so." Quinn said, they already had her hooked up to something that was helping her breathe. She would argue that she didn't need it, except she did. Quinn noticed the texting, and then she got it into her head that Danielle probably had a boyfriend, and she sighed.

Quinn didn't bring that up though. Now wasn't the time. "Seriously though, Danielle, I wouldn't be alive without you." She didn't know what she would do. She supposed she would have died on the sidewalk, and there wouldn't be a need for her to even wonder.

Johnny sent her back a sad face emoji, and added that she better, because he wanted to see her in that lingerie.

"Hey, it's no biggie, okay? Anyone would've done the same. But we already established that I'm your guardian angel, right? So it's totally my job to keep you alive."

She read Johnny's reply and then slipped her phone back into her pocket so she could focus all of her attention on Quinn.

"See? Already one step closer to the hospital. You're practically healed already," she said, ever the voice of optimism.

Quinn worked on breathing, and tried to focus on the she was still alive part. "What sucks is I probably won't ever see justice. It's hard to actually catch rapists and make the charges stick."

What sucked even more was Quinn didn't think they would actually serve time if they did get caught. Even with all of the 'Me Too' things, rape still didn't seem like a big enough crime for some people. That was the thing that was the most wrong.

"I like that you can be so positive."
