Minor Injury Meme

A meme for those minor injuries that won't leave you down but make it hard to live your life. The breaks, sprains, and the hurt/comfort that comes with them.

INJURIES

1. SPRAIN: you stepped the wrong way, twisted the wrong way, and something has gone terribly wrong. Just remember RICE - Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation.

2. FRACTURE: You step off the sidewalk, working in the backyard, and suddenly BAM!! But it's not a sprain, oh no, you're in a cast for the duration. Good luck trying to get to work.

3. PULLED: It's not bad enough for medical attention but it still hurts something fierce. Break out the tiger balm or someone to give you a hand because you've pulled something. That awkward moment when you think you want vicodin...and nobody will give it to you.

4. MIGRAINE: Light hurts, air hurts, moving hurts. All you can do is lie in a darkened room and pray for the pounding pain to go away behind your eyes.

5. THE FLU: Maybe you're physically fine – well… all your limbs are working. You just feel like death warmed over.

6. WILDCARD: Anything else you can think of.

SCENARIOS

1. INJURED! WHAT NEXT?: You're out working, you're out having fun, you're out doing something when suddenly you step, twist, move and our bodies demonstrate just how fragile they really are. Quick! someone call the ambulance!

2. THE EMERGENCY ROOM: All the fun of a waiting room with rewards that include crutches, casts, X-Rays, vicodin, and sometimes just that one nurse who says "Yeah there's nothing wrong with you that'll be 400 dollars."

3. HOME AND SETTING UP THE NEST: Hurt, trying to make a space for you to get around. Hopefully someone is there to help you get to your crutches so you can go to the bathroom and make yourself something to eat.

4. PHYSICAL THERAPY HOME EDITION: The obligatory smut option. Do you not see that I'm wearing this cast?

5. OH GOD HELP I'M GOING TO DIE: That awkward moment when the fact that you are bedridden is crushing down on you and you're terrified you'll do something to make the injury worse. Snappish, angry, and rude - who are you going to take it out on?

6. DRIVE ME TO THE DOCTOR THIS SHIT IS COMING OFF: It's time, they say you can come in, take it off, and begin the next stage of recovery. Failing that, you’re going to grab a saw and cut the damn thing off yourself! Will there be joy, laughter, crying, happiness?

7. WILDCARD: Anything else you can think of.

	Daniel sucked in some breaths but it really wasn't helping him to stay calm. He was too busy freaking out about Johnny's injury. He hung up the phone and returned to Johnny. Tears were actually brushing at Johnny's eyes. "I think it might be broken." He said, trying to breathe in and out, in and out. He was gripping onto the bed tightly. The phone by the bed rang, and Johnny wondered who it was. "Hello?" He said, concentrated on breathing. It was Trish. She had miscarried. Johnny bit his lip, almost drawing blood. "I'm so sorry, Trish. Really. Yes. Okay. Bye." Johnny hung up, a couple of tears falling down his face.

"We lost the baby." He told Daniel, now in shock as well as pain.

Daniel's eyes widened. While he was nowhere near ready to be a father, he would never have wished harm on the baby, not even a little bit. Oh God. What if it was his fault though? What if maybe he had subconsciously thought it? What if they were being punished because of Daniel?

He sat down next to Johnny and pulled him into a tight hug, being careful not to knock his ankle. "Holy shit, Johnny. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry, baby. It'll be okay. Everything is gonna be okay."

Burying his head into Daniel's neck, Johnny wasn't sure what to think. He hadn't been ready to be a dad, but he hadn't been wanting this to happen. Johnny took a deep breath, wishing that he could change things. But he knew that he couldn't, and he was mostly in shock. "Um, I don't know what to think. But... it's...." He had to stop there. Because he didn't know what else to say.

There was a siren heard, and EMTs came in, Johnny was surprised they were here already. He wished that he knew what he'd done that God was punishing him for. He knew that he was an asshole, but he'd really been trying to be better. "It's okay, baby, this is my fault. I'm an asshole." Johnny said to Daniel quietly, and then the EMTs carefully art his ankle so it wouldn't move, and then lifted him onto the gurney.

	"Johnny! This is not your fault. None of it! And you're not an asshole! You hear me?" Daniel said as he flailed around, trying not to get in the EMTs way. "You're not an asshole." The EMTs looked as if they wanted to say no, but at the look on Daniel's face, and the way that Johnny looked, they gave in. "Okay. But be careful once you're at the hospital, we've had a lot of Aids cases, and some of the staff is starting to get really prejudiced."

Johnny made a face, and did his best to keep from getting angry. He knew it had to be hard to deal with that on the scale that they were. "Come on, babe, I really need to stop being in pain." Johnny said, as they rolled Johnny outside, and slid him into the ambulance. Johnny did his best not to cry.

"And babe, I am an asshole. God must be punishing me or something." Johnny said, closing his eyes as tears dripped down his cheeks.

Daniel climbed into the ambulance and took a seat. He reached for Johnny's hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. "Listen to me, Johnny. You are not an asshole. You were. Before. But not anymore. God's not punishing you. It's just... sometimes he does shitty things to good people who don't deserve it."

He let out a sigh. Like all the people dying of AIDs. They didn't deserve that. Or the people who died in car crashes on their way home from work. They didn't deserve it. The world was full of shitty things happening to good people.

"We'll get through all of this, Johnny. Somehow."

Looking at Daniel, Johnny finally let out a sigh of relief, they'd given him an IV of morphine. Then he reached out for one of Daniel's hands, lacing their fingers together. "But on the subject of sexually transmitted diseases, when are we going to sleep together?" Johnny asked, hair falling over his eyes as he turned to look at his boyfriend.

It was the totally wrong time to talk about it, but he wanted to ask. Johnny didn't want to make Daniel worry about Aids, but he really wanted to make love to his boyfriend.

Daniel blushed bright, spluttering and choking on his own saliva. He couldn't believe Johnny had just asked him that so openly. People could hear! That kind of thing was private.

He dipped his head, rubbing nervously at the back of his neck with his free hand. "There's no rush, right? Besides, you're gonna be laid up with a busted ankle so there'll be no bedroom shenanigans for a while."

His blush was spreading to his ears. "What we already do is good though, right?" Handjobs, frotting and even the occasional blowie when they were feeling brave. Oh god... what if Johnny was getting tired of waiting? What if he thought Daniel was frigid? He was inwardly freaking out now.

Now that Johnny wasn't feeling the pain, he could appreciate his boyfriend's adorableness. "Yes, it's all good, baby. And I know you, you're freaking out. Don't. You know that I don't want to break up with you." Johnny definitely didn't know what it was like to be that insecure. He thought that Daniel could stand to work on it, but he didn't want to tell him that right now.

"I love you, okay? If you aren't ready, then you aren't ready. It's okay." Johnny told him, squeezing his hand. But not too hard. He knew his grip could be strong. "And that blushing you're doing is incredibly sexy and adorable. That's why I want to have sex with you. Because you can pull that off."

At this, one of the EMTs chuckled and patted Daniel's shoulder. "You guys are cute." She said, and Johnny, grinning, gave her a high five.

The ironic thing was Daniel used to be incredibly confident - cockily so. Then he moved to California and got on the wrong side of the Cobras and had no friends. It really did a number on his self-confidence. He went from one of the most popular kids back at his school in Jersey to a complete loser and outcast in California.

"I love you too. And hush!" Daniel smushed his palm over Johnny's lips. "Stop talking about sex in front of the EMTs! Shh!" It only made him blush more.

Laughing, Johnny said, "Can't help it, you're so fucking hot when you blush. And you heard her, she thinks we're cute." He loved how shy and private Daniel could be. He might love that the most about him. He'd hoped their kid would be influenced by that, because Johnny sure as hell wasn't like that.

Then it came to him, that they'd lost the baby, and his blue eyes brushed with tears. "I can't believe our kid isn't gonna get to meet you. Way bigger deal than meeting me." He said, closing his eyes as the pain from that hit him, it sucked that there wasn't anything that could help with that.

Oh man. Johnny's mood just did a complete 180. Daniel wondered how much of it was the morphine and how much of it was Johnny just trying to process everything that had happened. He hooked an arm around him, drawing Johnny's head to rest on his shoulder.

"Hey. Missing out on meeting you is a pretty huge deal. You're Johnny freakin' Lawrence. Doesn't get much cooler than that. Besides, they'll always be here, no matter what," he said, prodding his fingertip over Johnny's heart.

Burrowing his head into Daniel's shoulder, Johnny tried to not let the pain of it hit him all at once. Johnny was definitely still in shock, and he didn't know how he was going to deal with this. It was a good thing that he had Daniel. "I don't know why you think I'm worth anything." He said, his voice muffled.

He was quiet a moment before he spoke again. "Daniel, even God thinks that I shouldn't be allowed to mold a baby's mind. He knows that I'm too fucked up to raise a kid. He shouldn't have punished the baby to punish me, but I won't be having a kid, so..." He trailed off, his voice shaking much too much to continue.

	Daniel threaded his fingers through Johnny's hair. His heart was breaking for him. "Because you're my guy, dipshit. That's why." He pressed a kiss to Johnny's temple. "God's not punishing you, Johnny. Shitty stuff just happens sometimes. You'd be a great dad. It'll happen when the time is right." Daniel continued to press frantic little kisses to Johnny's head. Johnny could feel the meds working better, and his eyes were starting to slip shut. He always loved it when Daniel comforted him when he was upset. Johnny hadn't ever really had that before. It was really nice.

"I'm not, I'm going to be an awful dad. I was hoping that this kid would benefit from you, because you're gonna be a great dad." Johnny said, his eyes starting to droop, as they arrived at the hospital.

	Daniel guided Johnny's head to his shoulder. Although he wasn't sure if Johnny was supposed to be falling asleep. He didn't think Johnny had hit his head when he slipped but he didn't know for sure. Groaning, Johnny said, "Okay, okay, I'm awake." It was barely true, but he supposed it counted. As they were heading in, Johnny saw a still very pregnant Trish getting ready to head out to her car, "What the fuck, Patricia?!" Johnny asked, gesturing to her.

"You were going to let me think the baby died?!" He asked, voice rising in his anger and hysteria over his ankle. She shrugged. "I can't have her raised by two faggos." She told him, not seeming to notice that she'd used a gender pronoun with them, it was the first time she'd used one with Johnny.

Daniel hadn't actually met Trish before now. And already he hated her. Who the hell lied about losing a baby? That was bullshit. And not to mention incredibly cruel. Johnny might not be able to stand right now, but Daniel could. And he made his way over to her.

"You can't stop Johnny from seeing his kid! From being involved in its life. He has rights! I can't believe you would even say you lost the baby! That's messed up!"

"I don't want the baby. I'm giving it up. But she deserves two parents that aren't faggots." She said, the EMTs had to take Johnny to an ER exam room, so they could set his leg. He glared at her until he couldn't anymore. "Room 4, baby!" He called out, hoping Daniel gave her what for.

Trish brushed her brown hair behind her ear. She looked a lot like Daniel, soft brown skin, huge brown eyes, and other than being pregnant, her body was slender and tiny. She was only 5'5 though. She looked at Daniel.

"I was fine with Johnny having her, until he told me that he's serious about you. He wants to be with you for the rest of his life. This baby deserves better than two dads, especially when they might get Aids and die."

Daniel's hands balled into fists at his sides. He would never hit a girl, not even a total bitch like Trish. But the anger bubbled up inside of him.

"Just because we're both guys doesn't mean we're any less capable of raising a kid than anyone else. And straight people can get Aids too, you know that right?!"

How could someone be so narrowminded? "And not that it's any of your business but we're both clean." At least, Daniel wanted to believe so. They should probably get tested before they take the next step.

"If you try to stop him seeing his kid, we'll fight you every step of the way for custody."

Trish looked at him, she could tell that he wanted to hit her. She also knew that she couldn't get him angry enough to do it, she wished that she could. Then she could call the cops on him. She folded her arms, looking up at him.

"Yeah, I know straight people can. But that doesn't mean that you two should get the baby. I want to give her the best life I can, and that means not letting two gay guys raise her. Especially Johnny. He is fucked up. He shouldn't get to have kids. And you know if you fight me, all I have to do is say he raped me, right?"

She gave him an evil grin. "And they'll believe me."

She put one hand on her pregnant belly, it wouldn't be long now. Trish arched a brow as she looked at him. "So you think you know him, do you? We may have only slept together once, but I used to date Bobby. We know each other pretty well." She knew that Bobby felt really guilty about dropping Johnny as a friend, too. Especially since he and Dutch had been hooking up. But that she was going to keep to herself.

"You aren't good enough for him, you know that right? Johnny may be fucked up, but you're even more fucked up. Does he know about Silver yet?" She asked, she hoped that Daniel would wonder how she knew about that.

Silver was the one who'd told her.

Daniel blanched at the mention of Silver. How the fuck could she possibly know about that? He hadn't told anyone. How could he? When the thought of it made him feel sick to his stomach. How was he supposed to tell Johnny when Johnny was waiting so patiently for him to give up his V card to him. A V card that had been well and truly punched already.

"You've no idea what you're talking about. You don't know shit about me."
