"Wouldn't want to gross you out too much. Sam retrieves his salad. So much better than burgers!

"There's been a few weird murders a few towns over. Three. Vics have all been male. Mid-twenties. Each time the suspect has been found on the scene claiming they had no idea what happened. Demons, maybe?" They have bigger problems though. Like Dean. And not going to Hell! "Bobby's looking into it. I was looking if I could find a way to save you. And I have no idea why I just told you that..."

Dean freezes with his burger half-way to his mouth. "What did you say?"

He puts it back in its wrapper as his shoulders fall. There's this mix of disappointment and fear welling up in his chest. He'd told Sam not to try to get him out of it. Is he trying to sign his own death warrant? If something goes wrong, Sam's dead and that's not something Dean's allowing.

"After everything I said to you, you're still going behind my freakin' back." He stands, pointing an accusatory finger at Sam. "I can't believe you."

"What do you want me do, Dean?! Sit back and do nothing knowing that you're going to Hell because of me!?" Sam pinches the bridge of his nose before rubbing at his eyes, trying to fend off a tension headache.

"I can't. I can't just do nothing. I won't. You're my brother, Dean. I'm going to find a way to save you."

He sighed. "You're the most selfish person I know. D'you know that?" He willed himself to shut up but the words wouldn't stop.

Dean pushes himself up and walks over to Sam, stopping just short of getting in his face.

"I'm selfish? I'm going to die for you, Sam. It was my choice to make, not yours. It's not because of you. It's because of me." Why is it so hard for Sam to understand? "And you're right. I'm your brother, which means it's my job to protect you. If you do anything to mess this up, you're the one who dies and I'm not going to let that happen."

"Yes, Dean. You're selfish! You didn't want to carry on without me, but guess what? I'm going to have to carry on without you knowing it's my fault you're in Hell! How did it make you feel when you found out Dad sold his soul for you?! Because that's what you've put on me. I am not going to shoulder that guilt. I won't. I'm going to find a way to save you or die trying!" Breathe, Sam, breathe.
