( So, sleep is not going to be a thing, tonight, she decides, because Evie doesn't want it to be. The baby is especially active for no reason that Lila can fathom, beyond keeping her mother awake. Lila pushes herself up so that she can sit up and when she looks over at the clock, resting her hand on her ever-growing baby bump, two things happen.
First, she realizes it isn't night at all; it's just after four in the morning. And second, she feels the kick not just internally, but under her hand as well. At first, she's not sure she really felt it or if she imagined it. But then it happens again and Lila laughs. Then, she calls out loudly, completely forgetting what the digital clock read when she looked at it a minute ago. )
