DEREK.
Oh Derek... I'm going to say all of this because I care about you. I really do, so if I say it in a way that pisses you off, you know... suck it up.
Steve isn't the Steve that I left back in the City, and Lydia sure as fuck isn't the same Lydia you left back in the City. Yeah, she's been thinking about you for six months, but fuck Derek how old is the girl, eighteen? She's eighteen and she just spent six months raising a little girl who isn't even hers, living with the sister of the man that she fell in love with and involuntarily abandoned. It puts things in perspective for someone as young as her, when I was eighteen I didn't get to act like an eighteen year old because of my responsibilities. Her responsibilities changed, literally, overnight. Maybe it doesn't mean everything to her because her entire perspective on the world has changed. It might not even have anything to do with you. Yes, she went six months without you, but she went six months going through a lot of shit. We have to appreciate that they're going to be effected by that emotional turmoil, we have to.
And again, honesty, anyone who's dating you after seeing the shit you went through in the City doesn't have a rosy glow around you. They don't think that you're perfect or something on a pedestal, because you were never that person. Ever. If her vision of you has changed at all (which it might not have even done that) it would be to dramatize the person that you were, that's what our minds do. You were fucked up in the City. More fucked up than you are now. No one is going to be able to put a rosy glow around that. No one is going to be able to forget it. I highly doubt that she's putting a lot of expectations on you right now, you shouldn't be afraid that she is unless she actually acts like that's the case.
All I'm saying is, instead of letting yourself think that you're the reason she does the things she does, look around and see what other reasons could exist. And instead of thinking that she might expect more than you could give, remember exactly what you've gone through in the first place, you know?
