Who: Tim Drake, Conner Kent and Dick Grayson
When: Friday 18th May
Where: Secret Justice League Facility underneath the Flash Museum, Keystone City
What: Dick and Tim take Conner to see Cardinal Earth Superman
Rating: TBD
The idea started virtually when Conner had arrived and Tim had told him the fate of Cardinal Earth’s Superman. He thought his best friend deserved to know where Superman was being kept and be able to see him. After all, Superman was Conner’s family - alternate universe or not. But after discussing the idea with Bruce, his adopted father forbade it, stating that the more people knew of Superman’s location, the more chances of his enemies finding out and being able to finish him off. Bruce also mentioned that visiting the might have negative effects on Conner, that seeing Superman in stasis may be more harmful than good. Tim didn’t really want to hear the excuses and just nodded that he understood the orders. However, anyone that knew Tim, knew that once he had an idea, he wasn’t going to allow no to be the final answer. Even if that no came from Batman himself. Tim took his idea to Dick, believing his older brother to have a far better understanding on what it was like to have human feelings and wanting that family connection. Thankfully, Tim was right in his assessment of his older brother and Dick agreed. Together they made a plan. They discovered from Wally about the Flash Museum Open Day and decided that was the best day to put their plan in action. Tim and Conner arrived at the Museum around about 10am - after Tim had stopped at a nearby cafe to get his morning coffee intake. Dick had already been there for a while and said that Wally had led most of the crowds to the racetrack out the back of the museum to do some ‘showing off’, so they had a clear path to the service elevator that led to the underground facility. It seemed all too easy but that was okay by Tim, who knew that the hard part would come later once Bruce found out they had disobeyed orders. Once the elevator was hacked into, the ride didn’t last long and the doors slid open to reveal a sterile yet modern looking facility, similar in appearance to a laboratory minus the windows. There wasn’t a soul in sight, most of the lab workers hiding behind closed doors. But when they did scurry about the halls, the sneaking trio would pause and hide so as to not get caught. Once they reached the room Superman was kept, Tim drew a small cord out of his wristband and plugged it into a panel next to the door, hacking into the security. It wasn’t hard to override, especially considering Tim had a hand in setting it up. But Tim also knew that no matter his skills, an alert had gone out to the Batcomputer and Batman was now aware of their presence. “We probably have about an hour,” Tim spoke softly as the doors opened and he entered the room. It was darker in here, the main source of light coming from the huge stasis chamber in the middle with UV heat lamps inside it, radiating light and warmth like a summer’s day. Stepping closer, Tim moved to the machines that were examining Superman’s vitals, noting that there had been no change since the last time he had been here. Superman was alive, but the Kryptonite was still in his system. Tim chanced a look at his best friend, trying to figure out if coming here really was a good idea. Not sure on what to say, Tim’s eyes darted toward Dick. He knew it was hard on his brother too, Superman was Dick’s idol. But Tim was glad that Dick had come with them. Dick had always been able to know exactly the right thing to say. |
