Eric sat in the corner of the sofa and pulled Vala into his lap so that she was sitting sideways with her back against the arm of the sofa, angled toward him so that he could see her while they talked. "That's better," he murmured, leaning in to kiss her cheek lightly.
"Now then, tell me how you've been since the night of the invasion," he said, bringing a hand up to card lightly through her hair. "I haven't seen you much since that night."
