Eric chuckled again and crossed his arms comfortably over his chest. "This is a wonderful century for humans to live in," he remarked. "You can have food anytime you want it."
He thought back to when he'd been human over a millennium ago, to some of the harsher Scandinavian winters when there wasn't enough food. All of the people had been reduced to skin and bones. When there was food available, they ate. When there wasn't, they starved.
