"I don't know if it would have mattered either way. I think every little kid had a pretty distinct idea of what a dinosaur looked like. It's not like Jurassic Park was the first thing that made them look like that. Probably would've just confused the audience if you threw feathers in there."
He found himself shrugging at whether or not Pam's counted as a phase. "It probably depends on how different it was when you were a kid. Like, if-" he started but then paused, turning his ear towards the woods as the hairs on the back of his neck prickled as he heard sounds coming through the brush even over the sound of the water.
Someone was talking, which eased him a bit, and he was finally able to start picking out footsteps, and then the beam of a couple flashlights.
Chase was more than a little relieved when his group broke through the line of trees, following the faint sound of what they'd thought were voices over the river noise. He wanted to collapse a bit, his back and legs aching from the turtle shell of stuff he'd brought, but he'd kept a firm grip on the rifle the whole way. Now, seeing everyone relaxing by the side of the water, he just wanted to drop everything and collapse for a nap, but they still had a ways to go. He scanned over the crowd, as if he'd been expecting that more people would show up before they'd gotten there, like that was even likely. It was probably lucky that Lennon had managed to catch up with them, and while he was more than a little grateful to have his two friends with him, he was getting increasingly more paranoid and anxious about Kiley.
