Who: Marco & Open! (multiple is fine!)
When: Around 10am
Where: At the new vending machine
Marco stood, head slightly tilted, staring at the machine in front of him. Today had seemed like a normal day, where he could hide in his room or curl up in front of the TV again. He'd kept to himself after the whole mud thing, except for that night when he'd stayed with Oliver and Edwin, and he felt like he could probably stay curled up in bed for another few days after being rattled the way he was. But he could see the barn from out his window, and the machine... That was new, and weird. It was nice to have a way to get caffeine without worrying about their coffee stock, though. He had, after some debate, slipped on his shoes and headed over to the soda machine, already craving a coke.
But the machine, up close, was a little strange. It looked older than the ones that were more commonly found around LA now. This one didn't have the clear plexiglass, or the robot arm that would zip up to the bottle of Coke that you wanted. This one was older, with faded labels behind the buttons. Was one of the options Orange Fanta? He didn't even know that those came in a can. Why were two spaces reserved for mystery options? Couldn't Mystery just take up one button, and the other could be ginger beer or something. Actual beer. Something other than what was probably a TPTB trap.
He convinced himself to push a few buttons, hoping that maybe something might just fall out, and the payment option had been overridden. He vaguely remembered someone in middle school telling him that that was possible, and that their uncle had some hacked vending machine in their basement or something. This, apparently, was not the case here. He knew that from the scanner where the coin slot should have been, but it had still seemed worth trying.
Mello Yellow was on there, at least. Lennon would be happy.
He frowned, before raising his wrist and scanning his band. The screen above it lit up with the message What will you pay? Marco instinctively patted his pockets, as if change had appeared there overnight. "Wha-- I don't..." He tapped at the screen, waiting for options to come up, then started pressing buttons again. Nothing. "I don't have money," he informed the machine. "I don't know why I'm telling you..."
