"I only wanted hear your thoughts!", Vanessa replied defensively, feeling an emotional burn right the second Edwin lightly snapped at her and shooting him an unsatisfied glance with lingering hurt inside. Handling her intense emotions was still something she wasn't able to manage, and the mood swings were definitely exhausting not only for potential friends, but also herself, but growing insanely fastly attached to a person and then handling perceived hurt was especially problematic, and felt extremely discouraging. As if all the nice things he had said suddenly didn't matter anymore.
Her lips grimaced a little pout as Edwin apologized, and for a short moment, Vanessa was torn between instantly forgiving him and making him feel how much he had hurt her, like in the old days. As a compromise, she simply nodded, her arms still crossed, contemplating asking him what jittery meant before checking her phone as he told her what he had found on his, which made her eyes grow wide, lighting up her face a little bit again. "Like, you think this means like this is the exponsion of the place?", she asked a little more excited again, but quickly adding a still rather quite defensive "I only want hear your thoughts, I know you not know!" before he would scold her again.
She bit her lip, trying to catch another glimpse at him as he spoke again, not being able to distinguish his brief fear from potential annoyance he could feel towards her right now, especially since he seemed to really want to go back immediately, all the while Vanessa would have loved to bond a little more with him. It was like this dumb tree had ruined everything, the whole happy mood, and she didn't feel nearly as excited as she had anticipated to feel in the case of finding something, because the whole process of being with Edwin had turned out to be way more important than everything else.
"Jittery not means you are angry at me, or?", she finally asked a little sheepishly, not directly answering his heading back question immediately because she feared he only wanted to head back because he was mad. It didn't help that her interpretation of my nerves are shot was that he, indeed, was annoyed with her. Or that I hated that also automatically seemed like he meant the whole trip.
