Who: Edwin and Oliver Where: Foyer/The road into Zenith When: When the weather clears
Oliver didn't particularly want to leave the warm confines of Edwin's room to go take care of the sign, but it was better that than chancing Tobias or one of his friends wandering into town and seeing it for themselves. Sure, it would have been worse if Kai hadn't taken care of whatever doll she'd found along with it, but best to avoid any trouble. He didn't want to have to answer any complicated questions about what it meant, or who it was meant for. Everyone in the house had enough on their plates to deal with, new and old alike.
The situation had been made more than a little better when Edwin decided he wanted to go along too, settling that voice in Oliver's head that grumbled in discontent any time it became apparent that they'd need to separate. Despite the fact that they'd spent nearly all of their time since Oliver had returned together, that mental noise didn't seem to be quieting at all. They'd split up long enough for Edwin to head to the craft room for paints, while Oliver headed to the foyer with their winter gear. He detoured to the kitchen to fill a couple of travel mugs with fresh coffee, a little cream and sugar in his own and dressed up with caramel for Edwin's, then headed back to wait and get his gear on.
He peered out of the window as he slipped his coat on, the fog rolling in thick and obscuring the already darkening road. After considering that it would most certainly be dark before they were finished with the sign, he walked back into the kitchen, and through to the utility room to grab a couple of flashlights. He tested both on his way back to the foyer, smiling to himself as he heard familiar footfalls on the stairs without even needing to look up to see that it was handsome, sweet man. But he did look up, the small, almost automatic smile curling the corners of his mouth as he once again mentally weighed the pros and cons of forgetting the whole thing and heading right back to their warm, comfortable bed.
In the end, he placed the flashlights on the table next to the two waiting mugs, then moved to pick up and hold open Edwin's coat so he could slip into it. "So, what's the plan, master artist?"
