Pool house, all day, Talk Like A Pirate Day! Everyone welcome
Technically they shouldn't have put it in the pool, but the Manor could afford to replace it if necessary and it had to be admitted that a genuine floating pirate ship was a lot more fun than one on the grass.

Nick tied it off securely at one side of the pool so the prow was in the shallow end and the stern over deep water for jumping in, and wondered who would be the first to find it. There were plenty of posters up, that was for sure.

	There were quite a lot of people about but only one at the moment, a young man with a scarred back and a squealing red headed toddler hanging around his neck, was waving. "Hi, Bea," Charlie called. "Talk like a pirate day?" Charlie said. "It started as one of those silly online meme things, but September can be a bit down with the vacations over and all the kids back in college so we usually try to do something. A pirate ship in the pool is always very popular." Nia bounced and waved and he said, "This is Bea, she lives her. She's got a puppy called Pippa."

"Oohhhh puppy!" Nia said.

"Not here," Charlie said. "Come and have a bounce."

Girls bouncing in bikinis - and people asked why they had the ship in the pool!

Bea laughed again as she took Charlie's hand and smiled at Nia.
"Well hello there, pretty girl," she said to Nia and giving her a warm smile. "I'll have to bring my puppy down for you to visit sometime."

She looked back at Charlie and gave him a woeful look. "Awww, pirate talk isn't professional? Guess it's good I don't work with the public now, huh?" she said with a giggle as she kept ahold of his hand and gave another experimental bounce.

"Nia bounce," Nia demanded and Charlie let her down and held her hand too. "All together," he said and did a little bounce, making Nia squeal.

"Can you imagine Jack Sparrow trying to sell paintings?" Charlie said then put on the appropriate slurred accent. "Thish is a fine exshample of a nineteenf century gouache, or at leasht I fink it is. and you'd probbly agree if you'd 'ad as much rum as what I 'ave."

	Charlie gave her a schmoopy smile. "Really?" he said with a lift of his eyebrows. then he laughed and added, "Maybe you ought to meet our very own Jack then. "I'm not sure whether he's six four or six five," Charlie chuckled, "but he doesn't need a ladder to change lightbulbs. Only thing is, he's 'with' Seth Roth. Dunno if you've heard of him. His portraits sell like whoa! Fantastic artist all round but it's the portraits that shine. Oh and there's Adam McLaren back from Iraq, he's enormous too, and a new soldier, dunno his name." He smiled, having the disposition to view all strangers as potential friend.

Nia bounced enthusiastically. "Wanna cookie!"

	Bea knew a new soldier that had just come to the Manor. She smiled and looked down at her toes. "Eli Scott. That's the new soldier you're talking about I think. He's... Really nice."
