[Alterna] Lis' apt; Tuesday laaaate; Lis and J
It had been a week or so since J had started feeling the baby moving around and there was only one person who was more disappointed that they couldn't feel the movement yet thank Cotton was Lis. J found this amusing. Regardless it was the middle of the night when it happened. J couldn't sleep and had kicked Cotton by accident, which caused him to shift and then he'd gotten a little kick to his arm, which had startled him awake. She'd given him a total of ten minutes of groping at her stomach to feel the movement before she'd grabbed her keys, slipped on some shoes and headed for Lis' place. See, she cared.
So now it was oh...somewhere around three in the morning and she was knocking loudly, and yawning while dong so, on Lis' door. She was a few minutes away from calling out loudly for Lis to wake the hell up and answer her door and inevitably causing Lis' neighbors to wake up. She should've remembered her cell phone so she could've called and woken Lis up. Whoops. Cut her some slack, she was sleep deprived...and stuff.
It took a helluva long time for Lis to wake up enough to realize that there was knocking at her door. Frantic knocking, too. Well, any knocking could be classified as 'frantic' when it was in the middle of the night like this. Lis crawled out of bed and grabbed her robe and blindly made her way through the apartment to the door. She mumbled out something about how she was coming, but she wasn't sure if it was loud enough or not. She was tired and sleepy and her hair was everywhere.
She opened the door without bothering for the peephole, and blinked at J. "Oh my God, what?" she asked, her eyes widening as much as they could with all the tiredness. "Are you in labor?" That was a completely stupid question to ask, but it was the only thing that came to mind at the moment.
J fought not to laugh at Lis' disheveled appearance at the door, and the suddenness of her eyes widening, etc. She laughed at the second question and shook her head. "No, I'm not in labor," she said. "Sorry it's late, you'll appreciate the lateness in a second, I promise." She assured before she reached out for Lis' wrist to lift up her hand and put it on the source of J's insomnia as of late. She arched an eyebrow, but only after she felt the baby kick at the new intrusion of Lis' palm.
Lis lowered her shoulders in relief when J assured her she wasn't in labor. And then her hand was being grabbed and placed on J's stomach. Lis' eyes widened to their normal wide-eye size. The baby was kicking? She was going to get to feel the - oh! There it was!
She gasped and looked from J's stomach to J and back again. "Oh my God!" she exclaimed, way too loud for the hallway at this hour, but who cared? Baby Madsen-Weaver was kicking!
J laughed at Lis' reaction, though it wasn't exactly unexpected for a Lis reaction. She nodded. "Yes. And I'll have you know that Cotton is very disgruntled that I slapped his hand away just to let you experience the goldfish," She smirked. "My guilt got to me, you looked so disappointed at lunch last week when you didn't get to be all 'felt-the-kick' gushy."
"Ha!" Lis grinned, looking back up at J. Her hand was still very firmly in place, waiting for more kicks. "I'm so important you came all the way over here to show me!"
J smirked and glanced down at Lis' hand and then back up again. She nodded. "At three in the damn morning, yep. Feel loved." She replied. No, really, the fact that she'd dragged her ass up here in the middle of the night just for a little baby kicking action - which still felt insanely bizarre by the way - was true friend love, no? She was glad everyone was going to enjoy this and all, but she was not a huge fan of having her organs kicked for the hell of it. speaking of, there it was again, two quick kicks and then a slow encore.
It was the truest of true friend love, and Lis greatly appreciated it. "I do feel loved," she nodded. She looked down again. "And kicked! Even the baby likes me so much that she or he's trying to kick their way out to hang with me." She nodded at J's ever-growing stomach. "Just a few more months, baby, so chill while you can!"
"Good." J chuckled and looked down at the bump with Lis' hand on it. She let out a disgruntled sound and shook her head. "Those months cannot pass quickly enough." She said. "I would like control of my body back someday." She let out a wistful little sigh. "But anyway, I'll leave you alone to go back to sleep now if you want," She grinned, figuring she'd test a theory out. "You do have work in the morning after all..."
"I dooooo," Lis said with a sigh, dropping her head back a little to look at the ceiling. She picked it up again and looked at J. "But now I'm all awake. Not that I have much of a problem with this, 'cause it was very exciting. What time is it?" She turned around to look inside of her apartment, but there were no clocks visible from where she was standing.
J yawned behind her hand and rolled her eyes up in thought. "Uhm..." she thought about it for a moment. "I think...it was some time around, like...three when I left my place." She smirked a little. "See how much I love you? I dragged my ass here at three in the morning - and I only gave Cotton ten minutes to play around with the goldfish kicking so he was all pouty." Which was kinda funny.
Lis laughed. "That's so bad. I should probably let you go so he won't be wandering the halls, all forlorn. Oh, and so I can sleep, too." That would be a good thing, probably. Stupid work. "What is he going to do when you're away in the Bahamas with the baby?" she smirked.
J snickered a little and shrugged. "I have no idea. Probably call. A lot." She shook her head. "It's not like I'll be gone forever," She grinned. "Anyway, go to sleep - and lunch tomorrow, hm?" She arched her eyebrows.
"Okay, okay," Lis said with a wave of her hand. "Enjoy getting stomach-groped by your babydaddy." She waved properly and took a step back into her apartment. "Lunch for sure."
"There's a huge level of kinky dirty undertones in that statement that my brain can't handle at three in the morning," J scrunched up her face a moment as she backed up in the hall and gave a wave. "Sweet dreams, lady." She said before she started up the hall toward the elevators.
Lis grinned at said kinky undertones and reached over for the doorknob. "Hope I didn't just blow your mind. Night!" She gave the Madsen-Weaver baby its own goodnight wishes, and then headed back inside. To sleep.</l-cut>
