Madsen-Savage Apartment, Gilly & J, closed.
The Madsen-Savage apartment was empty all except for Gilly and the dogs, Gordie and Damage. Gordie was sprawled out in his dog bed after eating a pig ear that Gilly had given him from the cabinet after a walk and Damage was sleeping across Gilly's feet on the end of the couch, his pig ear was resting between his paws. He must have been saving it for later. J was still at work and Matt was hanging out watching hockey or some sport or other with Noah and he'd brought Max along (the baby hog!). This was a nice quiet night in the Madsen-Savage apartment and Gilly was taking advantage of it with a pint of Cold Stone cake batter ice cream complete with coconut shaving, rainbow jimmies and chocolate chips mixed in. She was also indulging in some musicals too. She's watched West side Story while doing her homework and then had moved on to Rent before settling in with her ice cream and jumping to the early release (illegal) copy of Mamma Mia! that one of her film classmates had made for her. She'd gotten it early thanks to the video store she'd worked at. It was awesome and Gilly felt fairly relaxed.
J returned to the apartment when Gilly was halfway through the pint of ice cream and during Voulez-Vous, which Gilly was bobbing and swaying along to as she hummed. J smirked a little as she set her things down and hung her coat up. When Gilly spotted her walking over, she put the spoon back in the ice cream and held it out to J as J walked over and sat on the other side of Gilly so she didn't have to shoo Damage away. "Taking a break from all that work for once?" J asked as she dug into a spoonful of ice cream.
Gilly smirked. "You're one to talk," She said even though J hardly worked as much as she used to not that max was in the picture. Then again, Max was work too.
"I'm not a high school senior who should be enjoying her adolescence," J replied, mirroring the smirk with her own as Gilly laid her head down on her shoulder. "So musicals and ice cream?"
"Both soothing," Gilly gave a nod. "And fun."
"Still having trouble with the Chef and the Wine Steward?" J asked.
Gilly rolled her eyes. "Nothing I can't handle." Especially for that paycheck, and the tips, sheesh.
"Have you talked to your actually boss about it?" J took another spoonful of ice cream and looked at Gilly as her sister lifted her head up.
"Nah," Gilly shook her head. "Not looking to cause trouble. I'm just sticking it out for now."
J dropped that part of the conversation with a nod. "Did you get all of those applications turned in on time?" Like she even had to ask. Gilly was way too responsible for her own good, well in that aspect anyway.
"You bet," Gilly assured with a nod. She'd spent weeks filling and mailing those damn things out and she was glad it was over. Now she had to wait for acceptance and rejection letters though, and that was nervewracking.
"How many were there in the end?" J was curious. She'd talked at great length with Gilly about schools and an abundance of them had been brought up. Gilly, however, seemed to be interested in staying in and around the City instead of moving to a dorm. She claimed that she didn't want to go movign far away from her nephew and have him forget her, but J had tried to convince her that it would be a good thing to move into a dorm and get some extra independence even though Gilly was pretty independent as it was. Gilly offered to do it if J and Matt felt like she was crowding them.
"Oh, geez..." Gilly rolled her eyes up and closed them, scrunching her face up in thought. "At least in the double digits. I think over a dozen. I covered all my bases. East coast, West coast, Gulf coast, Northeast, Canada, Midwest, Overseas, et cetera, et cetera," she grinned. "Now we have to wait."
"I'm sure you'll get a lot of acceptance letters," J assured. After all, Gilly had a 4.0 GPA, a 2270 on her SATs, she had a steady job and was already taking part time classes. "You're going to have a hard time picking which school you want to go to," She smirked.
Gilly grinned. "That was the plan all along," She joked before they settled in for some lighthearted banter while they watched the rest of the movie.
