Just as well it was her day to work because Charlie was wrecked. She rang him at eight am anyway just to 'check if there was anything he needed her to do' she said, though it was really to hear him groan, then headed off for work, picking up a coffee on the way.

By the time the gallery was due to open she had opened the mail and done most of the cleaning and was in a very good mood indeed.
