AU (yeah i said it!) Sunday Afternoon Follethorne Apt, Stone Lara & Poe
Poe was not feeling well. She'd had a headache since she'd woken up this morning and she was still suffering from it and feeling irritable. Currently it was sometime in the afternoon and she was tucked tightly into the corner of the middle of the sectional couch with her knees pulled up tight, her head resting on the back of the couch and an arm draped across her eyes. The curtains will pulled and electronics were even unplugged to keep their digital clocks and LED lights off. She even turned off the light in the kitchen over the stove that was on all the time. Earlier Slate had tried to curl up with her and she'd started to pet him but then he'd started purring like crazy and she'd shooed him away because the sound hurt.
There were things she was supposed to do today but she couldn't remember what, which was odd for Poe since her memory was pretty good. Had she taken her medicine today? She didn't want to move. And then she heard someone entering the apartment - the grinding and jingling that went along with the unlocking and opening of the door was followed by it swinging open and banging against the wall as Stone tried to lug in the tree grocery bags he had without dropping anything. Poe wondered if digging her eyeballs out of their sockets would make her head hurt less.
"Poe?" Stone called out as he used his foot to kick the door shut so that Slate wouldn't get out. "You home?" He called louder in case she was in the guest room. He turned and went into the kitchen to set everything down on the counter but it was strangely darker than normal and he tripped over Slate. With a loud tumble, he managed to save two bags and toss them to the counter, thankfully the one with eggs in it too, but the last bag which was full of canned stuff and some fruit and veggies, clattered to the floor. Stone stopped himself from falling on it and Slate. "Whoa...sorry cat..." He said as he landed on his knees and moved to pull Slate from some rubble. "You okay, dude?" He turned Slate around a few times to make sure he wasn't hurt anyway. Slate did let out a few meows so Stone gave him a few scratches behind the ears to make up for dropping stuff on him. "Where's Poe at, huh?" He asked as he set Slate down and moved to gather everything from the floor to put it up on the counter. Slate hung around Stone, sniffing at the various items before Stone got them and then walking around his feet as he moved to turn the light on in the kitchen as he called out for Poe again.
"JESUS! What? What the fuck do you want that you have to make so much damn noise?" Poe shouted as she smacked the hand that had been across her eyes down onto the back of the couch as she sat up straight. She put her other hand immediately on her forehead as she grimaced.
Stone jumped and spun around to look through the kitchen window. Did Poe just yell at him? Did she just drop an f-bomb too? He blinked and then headed out of the kitchen and toward the living room. "...Are you okay?" He asked as he turned on a lamp at the end of the couch.
Poe scrunched her eyes shut and put a hand out to block the light. "Fuck! Stone! Turn the fucking light off!" She shouted. Stone immediately turned the switch again as he stared at Poe. "No. I'm not okay! Would I bee sitting in the dark and quiet if I was okay?" She snapped.
Stone frowned as he walked around the couch carefully in the dark. "What's wrong?" He asked in a quiet tone and feeling a bit cautious now.
"Nothing. Nothing's wrong. I'm just fine and dandy." She grumbled as she stood up and promptly almost lost her legs right out from under her. She would've fallen if Stone hadn't stepped forward quickly and caught her, asking if she was okay as soon as he caught her, worried as hell now. "Get off me," Poe put her hands on Stone's chest and pushed him back. Stone tripped back on the coffee table and landed on some magazines as he landed on his ass on the coffee table. She cut him off as she started to storm out of the living room. "Leave me alone. I'm fine." She made it into the guest room with the help of the hallway wall and the door frame and slammed the door behind her, which helped a lot with the migraine issue. She quickly made this room as dark - darker even than - as the living room and then collapsed onto her bed with her face buried into the pillow.
Stone stared after Poe in the dark, eyes still adjusting and completely bewildered about what had just transpired.
