Why someone could feel trapped in a helmet Casey could never understand. The light turned yellow in front of her and she opened the throttle to roar through it. Back to her musings. Someone once described being in a helmet was like having you head in a prison. She loved it. She could feel every change of wind like it was blowing through her hair, but without the problem of squinting her eyes against the 70+mph winds. Grinning, she turned off onto the exit that would take her to the track. In her mind, she could see Rick now, pacing back and forth, checking his watch every few seconds. A quick glance down proved she wasn't even lat yet. She had five minutes. Plenty of time. She banked the sharp curve easily and could see the track looming into view. She gunned the engine again, loving the feel of energy and power underneath her. By anyone's estimation, she probably was late though. Audrey struck her as the type to be very punctual, which would probably make her the last arrival. That was a reason to speed if ever there was one. Unfortunately, she had to slow down through security. She paused to flip her visor up for the guard. "How's it going there Tony?" she asked as he swiped the card to let her through. "How's Laura." He smiled. "Oh she's fine, getting lovelier everyday," he said as the gate opened. "Aren't you running late?" Casey scoffed, "Not yet." She flipped the visor down and sped towards the arena. She had two minutes. Normally the entrance would be milling with guards, press, and fans but she drove through the side entrance, revving the engine as she drove through the tunnel so that it echoed, roaring. Honestly, she did it for the entrance. Why sacrifice an opportunity? |
