So Real
Whenever I think of talented people who died before their time, my mind always goes to Jeff Buckley. He's been dead fifteen years today, and if anyone could have written a soundtrack to my life it would have been him.
Now, when most people hear his name, their minds immediately go to his cover of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' but to me his original works are leagues better. There are so many gorgeous songs by him, but if I had to pick a favorite it would have to be 'So Real'. He recorded that song in one take, which might be why it stands out to me. It's also just plain beautiful. 'Lover, You Should Have Come Over' is also a favorite. Both seem to say things I wish I could but can't right now, so take that as you will.
If anyone wants to join me in remembering Mr. Buckley with a bottle of wine and copious listening of his collected works, swing by my dorm or make me a better offer.
