Hel hated him. No, that wasn't right. She quickly looked up a suitable word on her computer. Dislike. It was the only one that fit. She didn't loathe him. That word was too strong. She wasn't repelled by him. Surprisingly, she stood up for him. Albeit, it was immediately erased so nothing was actually said, but she stood up for him.
...detest, despise, distaste, abhor, revulsion, animosity, hostility...
The list went on as his word took hold. Hope. She said it out loud. Hope. The dead took hold of it. Hope.HopeHopeHopeShe loathed, detested, despised it; was repulsed by the thought of it; found it to be a hostile friend; was instinctually repelled by it; and she was still trying to rid her palate of its bitter taste.
Poetic, aren't we?
SHUT UP. YOU DON'T KNOW.
The words were yelled at the screen, but they were meant for the voices. Or maybe they were meant for Baldr.
Not caring about her roommate, Hel took her laptop off her desk, tugging it from the power cord. She chucked it toward the kitchen. It hit the floor with enough force to open the CD drawer which broke off when it hit the fridge. There was the sound of more damage, but Hel barely looked at it as she went into the bathroom and slammed the door behind her. The voices commented, and she told them to shut up louder than necessary. In the dark, she felt around for the bathtub then slipped into it, bringing her knees to her chest and wrapping her arms around her legs.
Hope. It made her come here to search for the family knew. It made her believe her mother wanted to see her. It made her want to get to know her brothers. It made her wish for a friend. It made her think about Legion. She found them, but her mother didn't seem as interested in talking with her as she did with her brothers. Jörmungandr had their mother. Fenrir could joke better with others. So, what was going to happen to her friend? What was going to happen to the hope that he'd stay for a while?
She couldn't take Baldr and his 'look on the bright side' philosophy. (He didn't even get angry at her.) She couldn't take losing another family. (For the second time.) And she couldn't take the feelings that hung around Legion. (Why did she have to smile every time he talked to her?)
Hel stayed in the bathroom for a while, her nails continuously digging into her arm from elbow to wrist, her eyes staring into the darkness, and her ears listening to every word.]
