I'd like to turn to a type of song that people like myself find ourselves subjected to with increasing frequency as time goes on, and that is the college alma mater. You'll find yourself at a reunion of grads, and old undergrads, and eh... somebody will start croaking out one of these things and everyone will gradually join in -- each in his own key, of course -- until the place is just soggy with nostalgia. Well, a typical such song might be called Bright College Days, and might go like this. Bright college days, O carefree days that fly, To thee we sing with our glasses raised on high. Let's drink a toast as each of us recalls Ivy-covered professors in ivy-covered halls. Turn on the spigot, pour the beer and swig it, and gaudeamus igit-ur. Here's to parties we tossed, To the games that we lost, We shall claim that we won them some day. To the girls young and sweet, To the spacious back seat of our beat up Chevrolet.

Does anyone know of any place that's hiring? My plan to get a job at the Sportsman's Club fell through.

Also, I finally started watching season two of Game of Thrones. Minus one particularly... upsetting sequence in the first episode, I'm looking forward to seeing how this season plays out. And yes, I realize I'm late to the party, however I'd appreciate no spoilers.

I have some savings, so I can afford rent for a bit, but I promise to have a job as soon as possible.

Blythe and I are going to leave for Mexico tomorrow and I am so excited! I haven't seen my family for a while and I miss them dearly. I also really look forward to introducing them to my best friend. I wonder why I haven't done that before, though. Blythe and I have been friends for quite a while...

On a rather unrelated note: I'm going to move off-campus this summer and into a very nice house. I- or rather we still have one room left and we're looking for a housemate. If anybody is interested, please contact me, Carina Castro.

“We are cups, constantly and quietly being filled. The trick is, knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out.”
~ Ray Bradbury

He died peacefully (thankfully) in his home Tuesday evening after a long illness. He was 91 years old.
If you're not aware, he is was the author of Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, and Something Wicked This Way Comes, among others.

Not unexpected, but still a surprise. He was a long time favourite of mine, and of many. Here's to him.

In other news, find myself wishing it were still winter.

For the first time in forever, I'm happy. I missed home.

Best vacation ever so far. Lost my little brother the second day, but who cares? He shouldn't be so fucking short. My uncle found him, though, so my parents don't have to cry themselves into dehydration. Endlessly entertaining bar fights are in abundance this week it seems and here's hoping they won't slow down.

If I do make it back, would anyone like a souvenir?

If this trip becomes an annual thing for me, you're coming next time. I can probably get my pushover uncle to pay for both our tickets and it'd give me a good excuse to leave the brat at home. I know you must be missing my drunk face, so here's a little gift to remember me fondly by in case I decide 'fuck it' and stay here forever. Or die from alcohol poisoning. Whichever happens first.

I really ought to apologize to my neighbors for something that happened this morning, but I'm not quite sure if they make cards that say "I'm sorry I answered the door while consumed by flames."

I am quite sorry, and their reaction was very understandable, but blasting me straight in the face with the fire extinguisher while I insist this particular phenomena is completely normal for me was a little uncalled for. Then again, perhaps a little forethought would have helped me out in this situation.

Oh well, I suppose I'll have to settle for a muffin basket.
