I'd like to turn to a type of song that people like myself find ourselves subjected to with increasing frequency as time goes on, and that is the college alma mater. You'll find yourself at a reunion of grads, and old undergrads, and eh... somebody will start croaking out one of these things and everyone will gradually join in -- each in his own key, of course -- until the place is just soggy with nostalgia. Well, a typical such song might be called Bright College Days, and might go like this. Bright college days, O carefree days that fly, To thee we sing with our glasses raised on high. Let's drink a toast as each of us recalls Ivy-covered professors in ivy-covered halls. Turn on the spigot, pour the beer and swig it, and gaudeamus igit-ur. Here's to parties we tossed, To the games that we lost, We shall claim that we won them some day. To the girls young and sweet, To the spacious back seat of our beat up Chevrolet.

It seems like I can work better when I'm pissed, because a wave of creativity just hit me! I don't want to brag, but I think my next line is going to be fabulous!

[Filtered to Beau Baker:]

I was right. You definitely know the most fabulous stores in town! Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

[Filtered to Elle Carson:]

Shopping with you was so much fun! We have to do that again sometime soon.

Ever have one of those days? Where you're just not at all sure what you're doing?

I ran into a wall and hit my head this morning. Blacked out. I'm still fuzzy. I don't remember what I did after that. But somehow I ended up outside.

Feels like my mind is twenty steps behind and is struggling to keep up.

I feel stupid for asking this. I'm sure the answer is obvious.

I ask a lot of stupid questions, don't I?

Are the clubs still active over the summer?

Can I go sit in the Gardening Club's garden? Plant things? Be alone there?

Had an interesting conversation (though, perhaps, it isn't correct to deem our interaction as conversational, but for simplicity's sake I will) with a local bird. It seems many of you are quite fond of turning the woods into a sort of underground safe house for your interesting desires and habits.

Considering the wildlife that inhabits the forest (and, certainly, what they do there), I might suggest you rethink this.

If you are not otherwise busy or entirely adverse to the idea, I would like to see you. Perhaps I could take you to dinner?

I wish to know how you are fairing in this life.

Some pictures I took of flowers growing on people.

art photos / cut for size )

Coneflower, Narcissus, Shasta Daisy, Pink Rose, Miniature White Rose. In that order.

I'm happy about the animal rights group. I already have several dossiers on some of our most pertinant and imperative cases. It's only about 75 pages altogether, but I should have at least 50 more by the time we have our first meeting. Make friends. I know I've met some people who are interested. Who else is?

[Private]

People ask a lot of questions. I don't know. They want to be friends, too, and their feelings are important. I'm trying to talk to more people, but there's still so many questions.

I don't know. Really don't know.

So that musical Rent is on TV. I've never actually seen it, but even I can tell that they're cutting out half of the lyrics. It's getting very irritating.

In other news, not that anyway really needs to know but I'm bored Aimon and I have finally moved into our flat. Let's see how long our furniture lasts.

Pro Tip: Unless a person invites you to do so, do not touch a them or their wings.

Life finally brought me here, to yet another degree at this fantastic university. I clearly didn't know what the hell I was thinking getting my first degree, so instead of taking my time and deciding what I want to do in life, I decided to prolong the inevitable and getting a higher degree, PhD this time, yes, because THAT makes sense. I swear, we're drawn to this place like flies to giant pile of garbage, or honey if you would rather a more optimistic comparison.

So here I am, ready to throw myself into year one of my graduate degree. I'm getting my PhD in criminal justice, and I'm told I will be a teacher's assistant for some of the undergraduate classes, not teach since I am new, but assist in grading, basically all of the grunt work, so I'll see all of you undergraduate brats. Name's Jack Parker. Some of you might know my siblings, but just because you know them, don't assume to know me. I also work at campus security, back like the old days of my masters degree, and if I'm not at work or class, I can usually be found at the gym, at mixed martial arts class, or the shooting range.
