I'd like to turn to a type of song that people like myself find ourselves subjected to with increasing frequency as time goes on, and that is the college alma mater. You'll find yourself at a reunion of grads, and old undergrads, and eh... somebody will start croaking out one of these things and everyone will gradually join in -- each in his own key, of course -- until the place is just soggy with nostalgia. Well, a typical such song might be called Bright College Days, and might go like this. Bright college days, O carefree days that fly, To thee we sing with our glasses raised on high. Let's drink a toast as each of us recalls Ivy-covered professors in ivy-covered halls. Turn on the spigot, pour the beer and swig it, and gaudeamus igit-ur. Here's to parties we tossed, To the games that we lost, We shall claim that we won them some day. To the girls young and sweet, To the spacious back seat of our beat up Chevrolet.

eris is a troublestarter [29 Apr 2012|10:15am]
I THINK THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE SONG.

[dorm filter; third floor]
Earlier, I bought five cartons of raspberries. They were on sale for 1.99! I couldn't say no. But then it got me thinking, why are things listed at _.99? Is it so it looks cheaper? I never understood that.

Ah, anyway! I was in the mood for cheesecake, so I made mini raspberry ones. I'm going to sit in the lounge with them and my homework if you'd like some! Please don't be greedy

I was thinking about our last picnic. It feels like it was so long ago! While the weather is still nice, would you like to have another one sometime? It was so fun last time.

[filter; apep]
This might be a strange request, but-- well, I'd like some guidance.

[filter; public]
I had to fight the most terrible urge today to visit the animal shelter to see the cats. I would like to come in sometime and give them love, but is that mean? Is that giving them hope that I'll take them home? I don't want to be mean to them.

Feel So Close [29 Apr 2012|08:52pm]
[ mood | bouncy ]

That was a great party last night! I had so much fun dancing, I think I was able to dance the entire night long. My feet kinda hurt, but that's okay.

Does anyone have any really good party stories?

Blame It (On The Alcohol) [29 Apr 2012|09:41pm]
[ mood | guilty ]
[ music | Glee - Blame It ]

To everyone who came to my party last night, I hope you had fun. It was great seeing all the effort people put into their outfits, and I'm so glad that people were willing to celebrate with me. Not sorry I bounced early though. I'm certain that was the best birthday party I ever had, so kudos to all of you.

Oh, and to those of you who got me presents, even though nobody had to, thank you. I spent my afternoon nursing a bitch-nasty hangover finding places for all my cool new stuff.

I can't believe I blac I blame you for the hangover I'm suffering from, since if you hadn't cursed me by bringing up the possibility of one in the first place I'd probably be fine. Thanks for getting me home safe.

[filter; arron]
I believe you owe me some bells.

It's been a little busy. I've been moving. Theodore was nice enough to offer a room and a terrace garden. (I can't wait to start planting.) I also started watching Xena on Netflix when I wasn't packing, moving, and unpacking. Next is Hercules. I also have Quantum Leap saved. So many great shows.

Also, Olive Our Gardens is starting their Beginner Planting class this week. It's Saturday from 9am to 10am. This year, I'm the instructor. What I have planned is fairly easy, mostly full of tricks and tips, so anyone who's interested should stop on by. And it's free. The more advanced classes cost a few dollars, but it's not overly expensive. (Just so you know.)
