Hey, all! Jackie here, back from the land of vacationing and bearing an Étaín - who you've probably already seen floating around over in ![[info]](https://www.insanejournal.com/img/community.gif) monte_extras - so we'll just keep this short and sweet: Abbey's the daughter of a casino owner father and an absentee pop-singer mother. Been dating Sam/Abel for the last three years. (Which began with a a fair amount of cheating and resulted in a good deal of guilt.) She's a second-year grad student, studying costume & jewelry design - and she works part-time at Hocus Pocus, a magic & novelty shop in town.
And now for your obligatory power-listing:
. lovely all until etain . Abigail inspires temptation and desire in a man who suffers doubts in his relationships, who is looking for a way out. Hell, to a man who is just plain looking, she's incredibly beautiful and alluring. Conversely, to a woman suffering similar insecurities, she dredges up feelings of bitterness and jealousy. (She genuinely hates it.) How the genders are effected can occasionally switch, but it generally tends to remain mythologically compliant. Also: Her current contentment and settledness does temper the effect slightly.
. the secret life of abbey mack . In times of intense emotion - particularly when experiencing fear or nerves - she dissolves into water. And yes, before you ask, pleasure has done it once or twice. Shut up. (Seriously. Her powers all suck or are terminally embarrassing.) She'll usually come back to herself a split-second later though, hair dripping and looking astoundingly sheepish about the whole thing. It's reasonable to assume that she might be able to manage the other transformations that Étaín had been put through at some point, but it hasn't happened yet.
Her application is a bit on the ginormous side - this is what happens when you write things out scattered all over notebooks - but it's over here, if anyone wants to poke at it.

hey everyone
'Tis Sheli here and I just wanted to publicly announce that I have officially dropped Merlin. I know many of you didn't get to interact with him and, for that, I am v v sorry. This is probably of no surprise to some: I had been struggling with his voice for some time and yesterday I realized that I was fighting the inevitable. I cannot say how sorry I am for both holding onto him when I should have given someone else a chance to pick him up and for dropping out on what few lines he did with your characters.
Thank you so v v much for offering your help in my attempts to find his muse.
Never to fear, however, as I do intend to pick someone else up to fill that slot. c: I know technically this half belongs in monte_extras , but I am lazy and covered in coffee.
Sop. Were there any preferences or wishes out there? From anyone? I'm looking to avoid the Greek & JC pantheons, but am open to all else. Also open to PB suggestions - any specific face you'd like to see in game? Family relations you're searching for?

So hi! This redheaded ball of adorbs here is Polyxena, or Mia Black, Penny Black's (![[info]](https://www.insanejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) chaorsandstrife) younger sister by the same father (although they don't know this yet). Remember what I wrote on monte_extras about her? Well, I have edited her quite a bit. Her app is here. The most significant change is that she's no longer a complete manipulator, and is more like, absolutely shy and kind of terrified of being betrayed by people. She's also quite pessimistic, but people will usually see her as quiet and a bit distant. And shy, so very shy. SO THIS MIGHT CAUSE SOME CHANGES ON HER CR I GUESS!?!? Sorry everyone q.q
Poly has only one power:
Trust: Males will feel compelled to trust, care about and sometimes love Polyxena. It’s more like a weird feeling at the back of the head, which makes them look at and think about her differently and is largely more effective if the man in question doesn’t stop to think about it; the more reasoning put behind it the easier to snap out of it. It has a lesser effect on reincarnates. It’s area of effect is the general area around Polyxena, but it focuses primarily on those she’s interacting with.
So she sorta needs lines?? Mia has been around since right after the last term ended, getting ready to start her sophomore term here. She's the worst at initiating conversations but with that head she probably can't hide that much XD And she would never say no to a conversation if approached, although how much substance one could get out of it...well, that depends a lot of the who, when and how. She is, hands down the most antisocial character I have here but I think she should have at least two somewhat close friends, but I'm not picky and I'm not exclusive; it would be hilarious if the tiny shy girl gets tons of people paying her attention.

I really am not going to explain who Vishnu was because, well, it's confusing as monkeyballs and took me for freaking ever to come to some sort of understanding. He's important, part of a badass trio, had one female avatar and only one consort (not counting Shiva's lack of self-control). Pretty much he was the balance between Brahma and Shiva, the preserver of the universe~~~

obligatory powers listing!PRESERVER | Everything about Noe somehow acts in a manner to help ensure that the balance is well maintained in the universe. His laughter can cure your depression, a smile will ease your anger or a simple pat on the back might change your overall mood that day. Equally, anything he makes acts as a constant giver of good feeling: be it from his artwork to what he cooks. And what he cooks acts in a healing manner, in that it can ease physical ailments and illnesses. Noe, however, cannot interfere with destiny: if it is meant to be it will happen. This can range from terminal illnesses to the common cold, if you are supposed to have it then none of his efforts will benefit you.
As a whole, people tend to feel at their prime and more upbeat when around Noe - and the more time spent with him only increases this.

CREATIVE ENERGY | Just as the Universe (and Vishnu) was dependent on creative energy, Noe is very much as well. Without it he seems to grow weak, vapid and uncharacteristically apathetic, and the longer he goes without creative energy the more dangerous it becomes to his health. First his preserving power weaken, then completely stop and, thereafter, he will fall disastrously ill. Essentially, Noe could die without it. His app is found somewhere. They say the truth hurts, but not more than this week. Starting tonight, you will be forced to speak only the truth. Starting a lie? It'll finish as a truth. There's a catch, however -- if you don't know it's a lie, you can still say it. Shouting WAR IS GAYER THAN A RAINBOW when you don't know if it's true or not still counts. Only if you're aware of the lie must you speak the truth.
Keep in mind that your character will not technically speaking be forced -- if they're aware that only truths will come spilling out, they may keep their mouths shut. If you're someone whose mouth works faster than your brain, well, we wish you the best of luck. And yes, this event applies to type as well!
As always, this event is not mandatory. We're also aware this might be a tricky event, so we except a few slip ups here and there. We encourage everyone to be careful about what they write in this next week. This event will last from the 15th to midnight of the 21st.

So... in what's becoming a rather strange trend, sometime between the hours of 3-4am last night, Riley could possibly have been seen leaving 14 Laughland Court in a too-big t-shirt sans pants in a huff, and stomping in the direction of the Black Woods. If your character would like to have spotted her, by all means you can say they did, but know she would have ignored any attempts to strike up a conversation and possibly would have responded as per her icon.
Edit -- I feel like it should be said that Riley's pants could be found in the stairwell between the 1st and 2nd floor, ripped beyond repair. The story of how they got that way is for another time. <333

Oh hey. It's Emma. This is Harpocrates. I told you kids all about him in the extras comm, but he is finally here. Blah, blah, blah powers:Voice Stealing: Though he can't speak with his own voice, he is able to speak "borrowing" the voices of others. The person in question cannot talk while Javi is using his voice. He can currently borrow it for up to a minute at a time.
Silencing: With enough concentration, Javi can nullify all sound waves within a thirteen foot radius of himself. Anyone within the radius basically becomes functionally deaf. No sound gets in the area and no sound can be created within it. People tend to find this disturbing, but he finds it oddly comforting.
Secret Keeper: Once Javi is told a secret, he cannot repeat it by verbal or written means. He could probably charade it out if he tried, but that is a pain in the ass. Secrets are pretty much safe with him. On the downside, this applies to secrets both good and bad. Someone's life could be in danger and he could not tell someone. Guess he'll have to charade that one. His profile is here. Overall, he's an outgoing person, especially on the journals, though he hasn't exactly made a lot of close, personal friends. I suck at intros big time.

Sorry, got a late start due to a little silliness with clicking the wrong button (at least nothing blew up), but starsparks_cdj (Mary) here with a new character! Paige St. Clair, reincarnate of Izanami, has been accepted!
Let me also apologize for not getting back to all the wonderful people who responded on my post in monte_extras . Came back from a lovely vacation and went straight into working on Paige's profile for 2-3 days. I will definitely get back to everyone, but it seems that all the posts were basically "let's be friends!", which I'm really excited about.

Guys. I have characters. I'm also some where in creativity limbo where ideas are forming but nothing is happening, but I'm finding that quick and dirty logs are working brilliantly in bringing me back to life. (but not really bc i'm a zombie.) As such, I too would like to offer logs! The more nonsensical the better, honestly, and I'd absolutely love to get characters who do not normally interact with one another to do logs. (bring on the cracky interactions!)
Anything we can kick out and be bosses about would just be badass, obvs.

This is Toby Cheshire, younger sister to Oliver and William. She's 18, a freshman in Philosophy and minoring in Arabic.
-She's super friendly and comes off as very naive, but really she's a little ball of mischief and illusion.
-She usually has some form of pink-red hair.
-She is the Hindu Devi (Goddess) of Illusion and Duality of the world, Māyā. She's the one that makes you believe that there's a difference between yourself and everything else. But it's ok, it makes you happy and in the old days when you asked for her directly she'd give you exactly what you wanted... no one seemed to care for it though.
-Powers:
Incarnations: When she touches someone she can see their past incarnations and future incarnations. Sometimes the person experiences the visions also, but that's generally not what she intends... generally.
Illusion: Toby can project very real looking illusions. Ones that change her personal appearance (whether to make herself look like someone else, something else or invisible all together) can last until she decides for them to change, stop or when she sleeps; while ones she projects over other things, people, or places only last as long as she is concentrating and she cannot move away from it.
Duality of Man: Toby can see the true nature of things. She instinctively knows what is truth and what is false. Whether it is a person putting on a false face of kindness when they are manipulators or saying something that is lie, she can tell. This ability also allows her to see through illusions, even her own. (Which is sad and makes them look like ghost images to her rather than reality.)

She's going to immediately want friends, but she just may start randomly talking to people... because she's like that.

Literally on my way to bed, but was so fucking excited about this acceptance that I had to throw up an intro post. Another boy for Jae's cast; this time bringing you Helenus aka Blaise Mitchell (yeah, I stole the name from Harry Potter. WHATEVER.).
Quick Facts:
+ 22 years old, Psychology graduate first year, works as a Reseach Technician Asst
+ Half-brother to our friendly neighborhood Andraste (via her mother) and cousin to Lucifer
+ POWER:
SEER: Blaise was given the gift of prophecy in this life as well. Though he can only see up to a year into someone's past and/or future. He can't see his own future, however, nor the future of anyone else that shares his gift. For the most part, Blaise thinks this power is useless and annoying. His visions are fast-paced non-linear images that don't make much sense at first (think something like this) and he's left with severe headaches after. He has no control over what he sees or when he sees it.

Hail and well-met, fellow players! Jill here, with the latest addition to her cast -- Pheme, aka Natalia Adelaide Hammond. ^^; For the brief history, she's new to Montenegro and lives at #104 Spark St with Kitsune and Elaine of Corbenic, and she'll be going into her senior year doing Journalism. Her application is here if you wanna poke at it, but here's the important part...
Her powers:
Many-eyed, many-eared, many-tongued: As a goddess Pheme had the ability to see, hear, and subsequently spread any piece of information she discovered with lightening speed. In this, the age of technology, Pheme still has that ability to an extent -- if people are talking or writing within 50 ft of her she can pick up on their conversation or see what they've written -- though it doesn't work against filtered items.
Open your heart to me: When around Pheme for fifteen minutes or more, people will tell her things they usually wouldn't reveal. This could be anything from how they used to wee the bed to something far worse. The usefulness of the information she gets is dependent on the persons' will - the lower the persons' will the more scandalous the story.
The pen is mightier: When Pheme has something to say, people listen. Be it good or bad, her words can affect a persons' reputation if she so desires it. When she puts in a good word for someone, or chooses to slander them, other people take it with more gravitas than usual. How deeply they let her words affect them is up to the person hearing/reading them and dependent on how willing they are to believe it.
So, give me whatever, mmmkay?
Fair warning -- Pheme will put out 'blind items' relating to things she's read or seen (ie, public interactions), and the only way to avoid being the subject of one is to be incredibly careful in your public conversations.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T KNOW: Troilus had been the youngest of the Trojan princes (fathered by Apollo, though adopted and raised by Priam), a huge comparative image to both Hector and Astyanax and held of the great legacy of being viciously beheaded on an altar in Apollo's temple by Achilles. However, more than likely, you might know him better as the Troilus from Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida. Because there are so, so many variations of both his myth and his love tragedy story I decide to stick with the modern preferences and adaptations. More of which is more or less explained in his app. tl;dr? Total baby badass with a shitton of potential, murder was a big fucking deal in ensuring Troy's fall, Cressida was a bitch and I'm very much obsessed with his story.
In this life he is Curtis Hart, younger brother to Andrew Hart (our beloved Anteros) and cousin to both Mal Kent (Sedna) & Kain Vogel (trolololol, Neoptolemus).
He's only recently transferred to Monte, though it's very likely that you and yours will know his face v v well already. See, homeboy here made both YouTube and news-worthy fame when he realized he was Troilus. Swore at a girl who rather reminded him of Cressida and then proceeded to attack the poor guy who reminded him of Diomedes. Success! So. Because of this, and politics, he was subsequently kicked out of Virginia Intermont College and had to make some sort of incredibly awkward shift over to Montenegro.
Homeboy's powers are as follows:EQUUS | Always mentioned to having been with horses (be it riding or as a charioteer) it would be safe to assume that Troilus had a talent in handling equines (if not a fondness) and this has continued on in his life as Curt. He is able to handle, sooth and tame even the wildest of horses; and, in return, they respond quite fondly towards him. (Though, no. it will not get all Equus up in here – don’t worry.)
LION-WHELP & SECOND-HECTOR | It is a common belief in many of the myth variants that if he had not died Troilus would have been a great hero. He is often compared to his eldest brother, Hector, as being a mirror image and there are even some versions that have chosen to progress Troilus’ age further and display him as being a fearsome warrior capable of cutting down seven Greeks with a single blow – as well as wounding those such as Menelaus – and as being greater than Alexander, Hector, and even Mars*. Whilst I’ve decided not to follow this fast-forwarding version, it can be used as a glimpse into Curt's future: if he were to be properly trained (and survive past twenty) Curt would be a fighter to be reckoned with. He would not be invincible, though he would certainly give everyone a run for their money – at current he is still very much the little lion-whelp in that he is only barely formidable, he is still ever the young warrior and has many, many rough edges to be smoothed out.
*The version that involves this is of Roman origin - I'm not going to make the assumption that Troilus could truly kick Mars' Greek counterpart's ass. In fact, it is highly unlikely that Curt will ever be able to defeat any former warrior gods.
TWENTY | It was prophesied that if Paris was born that Troy would fall; however, it was also said that if Troilus were to live to twenty they would be able to come out successful in the war. So long as Curt can make it to twenty, he and his family will be happy, healthy and successful. Otherwise, they are doomed to the same disastrous fate as the Trojans: though probably with less war. Easy enough, right? No pressure.
So Monte: he is your new Equine Studies Undergrad! Works at the Montenegro Sportsman Club & is part of MMA, Fencing and (some form of equestrianism grouping after school).

also. please take this moment to consider just how badly i am going to beg and harass for a hector. just sayin', putting it out there.
While I have your attention: I'll be taking a brief, pseudo hiatus from Friday to Monday. Hello! This Aura and today I bring you Sekhmet! Also known as Lien-Hua but you are never going to know that's her name (unless you're Faye. Damn you Faye, you can't tell anyone). Instead you will probably know her as Lena, She Who Dances And Is A Bit Blunt. She's like those big, muscular dudes that are all friendly and will drag you for beers and skirt chasing. But she's a girl, so eh, maybe some people will find her too direct at times? She's sort of a hothead too, although her ability to hold a grudge is zero.
She's a junior and pretty much came around with Hathor (shaungxi) because they knew each other over the Internet but now they are here, messing up your business. So she probably knows a lot of people! And might already have some enemies/frenemies/bros/flings and all the in-betweens.
She only has one power, although is like an amalgam of what made her Sekhmet, so go to the app and read it because I have no brainpower to explain it in any other way right now; suffice to say, she rocks at all things physical. Also lol I'm changing that layout asap.

hi guys! venus here with my new boy, abel / samuel rosenblum. he grew up with aria dixon and dated her all throughout their undergrad until he accidentally fell in love with his co-worker. he couldn't work up the balls to leave aria and hurt her feelings so when she caught him with his new gf, he took the opportunity and ran. besides being that kind of asshole, he is actually very sweet and gentle. he just has no backbone whatsoever. and he is still dating that new girl, who is probably the one so if anyone would like to fill in that spot with a char in game or app one ^_^

I have with me a bag of dicks. Neoptolemus is the epitome of the insensitive bastard. He thinks women are weak and only good for one thing, he probably eats tacks for breakfast, and he towers over most people and likes it.
Short story on Neoptolemus: he was the son of Achilles, called to the Trojan War during the last year of the war after Helenus said that Troy wouldn't fall if he didn't come fuck shit up. So he came, he fucked shit up, and he killed the following people: Hector's sister Polyxena, his father Priam, and his son Astyanax. He took the man's wife as his concubine, and his brother Helenus as his slave. THAT'S NOT IT THOUGH. He was also promised to Helen's daughter Hermione by her daddy. So that was a happy marriage.
In this life, he's Kain Vogel, ex-army professor of Military. He's brand new to MNU. He's also the cousin of Anteros~ so I'm sure family reunions are nice. The rest of his backstory is in his app and such. He'll be FA for MMA soon enough, and his ability is the following:
FEAR ME - He gives off something like an aura of fear. Anyone who stands too close to him will feel chills, or even legitimate fear. How much it affects someone depends on their level of resistance. If they're someone who is easily frightened, they'll be shaking in their boots the second they're within two feet of him. Someone who's more or less immune to being afraid, or is at least less likely to feel it, will be less affected. Now, I usually don't do this with most characters, but in the event that Neoptolemus is an asshole to you, please don't take it personally, and please don't confuse me for my character. I =/= him. And I love you all, so no debate about that. Now have a sloth.

Angel of Love - As the archangel over sexual and romantic love, Anael tends to give off an aura of both sexual, and romantic appeal. While she can't turn it off, she can sort of control it. What this means is that when she's around someone she finds attractive, the ability is becomes a bit more powerful. Those with strong wills are immune to the effect, and those effected tend to display different reactions.
Prince of the Astral Light - As one of the three geniuses of fire, specifically that of astral light, Anael can implant images inside a person's mind. The more complex the image, the more worn out she becomes. Most of the time she'll implant pleasant images inside of a person's mind, and only when they want it. When she feels threatened, however, she can implant some rather horrifying images in the person's mind. This use of her power will always cause her to pass out due to the sudden use of said ability.
Also, she glows when the power is being used, but slowly fades the longer she uses it. (Note: Permission will be asked before this ability is used on any player controlled character.)
Prince of the Astral Light II - When she sleeps, Anael has the ability to astral project, and can enter into people's dreams. Most of the time she simply observes the dream, and forms herself to blend in with said dream. She can, however, altar the dreams a bit; for example, turning a bad dream into a better one. She can also, when she feels the need to, turn the dream into something far more sinister.
Those with strong wills are harder to have their dreams invaded, and a lot of times Anael must either ask permission, or wait for them to lower their guard. (Note: Permission will be asked before this ability is used on any player controlled character.)

We also have one final announcement about applications! The application with the new personality section is here. Thank you to all who made suggestions in our last post! This version is not final. Should things not work out, or if the mods don't feel this is sufficient, we may change it down the line, but not without player's suggestions. The application is never final -- we will always accept suggestions as to how it can be better! For how, however, we will try this and see how it works out.
This said, if anyone has already started their personality sections in prose format, please do not feel obligated to switch to this format. We only ask that for a new app, you use the new app form.

Going on a last hurrah vacation with my friend! I'll be back to posting on the ninth. I have my cell phone with me, though, so I'll keep an eye on the ooc boards and I'll be available for email.
And I will finish that meme thing on my cdj when I get back, I swear it!

Oh Hai Alexandra here with her second - Night Chamberlin aka Poseidon.
Quick run down

→ Is doing a Masters in Veterinarian Studies
→ Greedy, has quite a temper, will do anything for his family, takes things personally, highly competitive,
→ Is on the swim team and teaches swimming lessons
→ Also is a member of animal rights
→ loves horse back riding as well as swimming

And his powers:
Can hold his breathe under water for an extremely long time - As part of the God of the Sea, Night is at home in the water and can stay under for a lot longer than normal people
Animals - Night is excellent with animals, especially Horses. He seems to understand them and they him, often doing what he wants with little or no encouragement.
Earthquakes - When he's really angry he can make the ground shake like an earthquake is occurring.
