Hi guys, unfortunately we come to you with a serious issue that we touched on a few months ago, but would like to go into more detail about today.
First and foremost, Montenegro U is a school. As such, students are expected to behave in a manner that is befitting of a university student willing to learn and adhere to school policies. They are expected to follow a certain code of conduct to ensure the best possible learning experience. This is why the network exists -- so that students and staff alike can connect with others who, like them, are here to learn and push themselves toward success.
However, the network is not a place to be abused. While we do consider it our only means of communication outside of logs, we wish to remind you that this is a school network. Everyone inside of the school can see this network, from students, to staff, to IT, and even the administration. The mod team is asking that you, from this point forward, think through your posts to the network. Remember who it is who sees them, and who you are filtering to or against. Be discreet and filter properly.
With that said, there is again the issue of free speech. Consider that this is a school network and not something like Facebook, where anything can be said without as much scrutiny. Though the administration isn't sitting watching like hawks, there are certain topics that they will take disciplinary action against. We on the mod team admit to not being as proactive as we should be when it comes to disciplinary action against students, as to an extent, it is a game. But we would like to start behaving more like a school and less than a game. From now on, there will be in-game consequences for certain actions. Such as with this last event, some students have been contacted for behavior that was considered dangerous, concerning, or inappropriate. Remember that all actions have consequences. If you behave poorly enough, you can expect to be kicked from the college.
Our newest NPC, President Julian Rhodes, has been introduced in order to enforce the rules and regulations. While we hope he won't be making too much of an appearance, he will be in charge of all school-wide disciplinary action, at least until we acquire more deans. Students will be expected to meet with him to discuss their behavior. He is the voice of Montenegro U, and will not tolerate students abusing the network.
We apologize for putting down our foot so suddenly, but we feel that as a school game, we need to start acting like one. To sum it up, remember to watch what you say and who you filter (or don't filter) to, and be prepared for disciplinary action should your character act in a way that our President or the appropriate dean does not approve of.
Thanks,
The Monte Mods
