Who: Edward Nigma (the Riddler); Barbara Gordon (Oracle); cameo by the Joker, later, Batman, Nightwing
Where: Arkham Asylum, Clocktower; Riddler's hideout; the Batcave
When: April 16 - late morning
Summary: The Riddler sends out one of his riddles, Oracle picks it up and transmits it to others. Stage One of the plot!
The security camera revealed what was happening, live in the cell at Arkham where the criminal, the Joker, was currently being held. In a fuzzy black and white frame, the criminal maniac was huddled in the corner, his arms bound tightly in a straight jacket. Though there was no sound, it was clear that he was throwing his head back and laughing hysterically. The reason why no guards or doctors were attending to him to make him stop, was that they hesitated to enter the same room with the Joker, even though they were armed and he was bound.
The picture was then interrupted by a short burst of static, and when the image became clear again, instead of the cell, the camera shot was that of a room, the walls of which were textured very odd. Into the field of the camera's vision, slid the Riddler as if dancing, his cane in hand. A wide grin upon his masked face, he tipped his bowler hat, hamming it up for the camera. It was a pity there was no sound, but Eddie had to make do with what was at his disposal; he knew this would attract the Batman's attention.
After a sweeping gesture with his arms, he pressed a button set into the brass question mark of his cane, which then caused the picture to change again, this time to a page with text upon it, which read:
A question
Objection
Expression of doubt
It's not very queer
We want to find out.
What speaks but cannot be seen and is heard only when called?
