Summary: Party! It's Bruce Wayne's 36th birthday party and everyone who's anyone is there.

Alfred had been given permission to "outdo himself" and outdo himself he did. Wayne Manor was polished to a shine and decorated to the nines. The catering had been meticulously planned, with Alfred making several of the recipes himself. The ballroom had a stage that would have a live band with dancing for most of the evening and Zatanna's magic show at other times.

The only cause for complaint was due to the guest list. With all the plus ones, it was all a bit chaotic. While everyone either needed an invitation or to be with someone with an invitation to get in, it seemed that wasn't much of a barrier to entry.

Bruce made a non-committal noise. That was a sensible, normal argument for sensible, normal people. The al Ghuls were not sensible, normal people.

He wished, not for the first time, that Talia had told him when Damian was born. They could have raised him together. Or run. No, not run, Bruce couldn't leave his mission. Well, not indefinitely. Could have cut back some, though. Run things remotely. Leaned more on Dick and Barbara. Something.

Or maybe he was just kidding himself.

"How about you?" Bruce said, changing the conversation. "What are your plans? Staying in Gotham?"

Talia shrugged slightly.

"I plan to stay for a few days, but then I have other plans." The appropriate translation was clear. She had an assignment, some commission from the League. But, well, she knew better than to talk business publicly. Or at all with Bruce.

With a laugh, she added, "I probably should leave tomorrow, but the shopping in Gotham is delightful. How could I pass it up?"

Whether she meant it or it was for the benefit of another couple whose dance path had led them close by... it was hard to say.

"Talia..." Bruce murmured, but whatever he was about to say next was interrupted by the ending of the song. Already people were coming their way to wish him happy birthday, or just to say they'd spoken to him. His fairweather friends of the Gotham social scene.

He slipped into 'Bruce Wayne' mode without a pause. "Thank you for the dance, but I fear I've taken too much of your time. The natives are getting restless." Bruce nodded toward the encroaching party-goers.

	Talia smiled. Her voice was light, airy. Not quite vapid, no... but not the lethal, calculating assassin. "It's been wonderful catching up like this," she said, kissing him on the cheek. Just as any socialite would. With a small wave and a smirk meant just for him, she turned... and melted into the crowd. (Reply to this) (Parent)
