WHERE: Max's apartment and Aubrey's hotel room
Max wasn't sure how he was supposed to react when Aubrey went away for a week. Not only was he new to their relationship -- whatever, exactly, it was -- but he was also fairly new to the world of dating in general. He had never been seeing anyone and then not seen them in person for a week, let alone when the relationship was short enough that a week made a difference. But there's a first time for everything.
When Aubrey told him that she and Liz were going to DC, he was happy for her, of course. This was her chance to see more of how politics worked in the nation's capital, and he knew how important politics were to her. He was sad that he couldn't join her, but at the same time he felt an odd sort of relief in knowing that she'd be gone for a week. That was one week longer that they'd be together, since surely she wouldn't break things off while on vacation, and it was a week that Maxwell didn't have to worry about their bedroom dilemma.
It hadn't come up since then, and Max figured that it wouldn't again while she was away. It was irrelevant, and they had plenty of other things to talk about, like that excited text he had received earlier that day about how Aubrey had met Tabatha Schlottman herself. In his text back, he asked if she'd be free that night for a holo-chat session to talk more about it. Since she had been, Max sat at his desk with his iHolo, adjusting the settings as he waited. At the time they'd agreed on, he pressed "Send," and soon Aubrey's phone would ring, asking her permission to allow Max to project a hologram of himself into her setting.
