Grrrr!
This is a random rant about how shitty the American health system is.

I woke up this morning feeling much worse than I have been the last few days. I finally gave in to go to the doctor. I called my primary doctor listen on my insurance card. I was told I could come in...on September 2nd. I'm pretty sure I still won't be sick by then, and if I am, well I'll probably be dead. Apparently you have to preplan getting sick in order to get a damn appointment. Isn't that special? Remind me to get sick on schedule next time.

So, I was told to go to the ER. Ok, fine. No big deal, right? WRONG. 2 hours in the waiting room, then another 2 hours sitting on a bed in the hallway. By this point, my son and man are both being cranky and anting to avoid being arrested for strangling my signifigant other I sent them home, calling my mother to come get me when the doctor finally decided I existed. (I'll be on antibiotics for a week for my throat and ear). The nurse who was supposed to discharge me disappeared for an hour so the grand total was over 5 hours...for a 5 minute poking and a prescription.

So, I'm finally home, exhasuted, and I have to clean my house because mommy doesn't get a day off, even when she had the plague.

but without all that time there how would we ever get to hear about the horror stories? broken arms, heart attacks, tantrum throwing children (and in most cases seemingly adult sized men far from grown up)... ER usually takes four hours out here for me too. advice: take a book or a DS :) if they don't entertain you, you can always whack the person sitting beside you.

on the other hand: sends get better wishes a plenty

This time I was the one with the tantrum throwing children. One's 11 months and tyhe other is 27 XD And I did whack someone with a book. the 17 year old child.

And thankie. Hopefully the antibiotics will work. Unfortunately on antibitotics birth control doesn't work so no rl smut for me >

It's fun isn't it? Do you have a CVS Pharmacy near you? If you do check and see if they have a Minute Clinic. It's a walk in, no appointment needed doc that isn't charged at ER by insurance. Well at least not by mine. We go there if we can't get into our normal doc.

and contrariwise, fortunately, the only time I've ever had to take anyone to the ER was a few weeks ago. My husband had an infected hand. We walked in, waited two minutes were shown to a room. Waited fifteen minutes, saw a doc.

Of course, after THAT it took literally HOURS to get treatment, but the actual process of getting seen and stuff was painless and surprisingly fast.

I was really stunned, but then I live in teensy tinyville, so maybe there just weren't enough sick people that night. :)

Sorry you're not feeling good, though. And sorry you had such a sucktastic experience.

M
