October 7, 2020 --Baby got lost.
Who: Eline, open.
Where: An empty corridor.
When: After dinner.
Rating: PG?
Status: Ongoing.
Summary: Coming.

How can I have been living in this castle for four years, and still get lost? The thought crossed Eline's mind several times. She was lost and it was almost curfew. If she got points taken away for something as stupid as getting lost she'd kill herself, or be tempted to. Eline was already getting angry at herself for being so stupid. Was it her fault that she had taken the wrong corridor when she was ducking away from Peeves? Yes. Wait, no!

Eline turned a corner, wand lit hoping that someone would be there but she was only met with another dead end with some stupid statues. What floor was she on again...? She couldn't remember.

Dakota turned his head at the sight of the wandlight, shielding his eyes a bit. "Oi!" he said irritably. He'd gotten used to wandering back to common in the dark. He sneered at the girl as she approached, rolling his eyes.

"Bit lost then?" he muttered in annoyance before he moved to push past her. He didn't have time to be directing around younger students - especially puffs.

Eline blinked, okay she was rude to people but if she had seen someone who was obviously and hopelessly lost she would have helped them like a good person!

"Yes I'm lost, can you help me?" She asked, it coming out with a bit more attitude then intended.

He'd been joking. He hadn't really expected her to be lost. And he certainly hadn't expected her to admit that she was lost. Turning his head, her rotated slowly to face her, looking at her incredulously.

"Are you mad?" he said pointedly, eyebrows up. "You've been living in this school for, what, four years now, and seem to have misplaced your dormitory?"

He crossed his arms in front of her, leaning against the wall, trying to determine if she was playing him, or if she really was as dumb as he seemed to think she was right now.

"I'm seriously lost. I'm never up here, how would I know? My common room is in the cellar?" Eline knit her brow. What had he expected her to just be wandering the halls? How stupid was that? Who took walks by themselves? Losers, that's who.

So quite obviously, he was a loser.

"Why did you come up here then?" Dakota rolled his eyes. He sighed over dramatically and inclined his head slightly as he started to move, in his own way indicating that she should follow him while he led her back to the staircase that led back downstairs.

"Seems kind of foolish," he said coolly. "To be wandering around in an area of the castle that you're not familiar with at night."

Eline rolled her eyes at his annoyance and began to follow him. "I was at the owlery." She told him calmly. He was treating her like a child, but she'd have to be nice in order to get back to her dorm. Sigh, she hated people sometimes.

Dakota raised an eyebrow over his shoulder, smirking at her slightly. "So you managed to get up there all by yourself?" he said. "But you couldn't seem to manage to get back downstairs without managing to get yourself halfway around the castle?"

He was half teasing - he figured he could probably trace an easier route back to the owlry that wasn't halfway around the castle - but there was no sense admitting that.

"Suffer from short term memory loss?" he asked condescendingly.

"Yeah, sure." Eline said sarcastically. Okay so when he put it that way she did seem just a little stupid, but only a little. Well, that was all she'd admit, anyway. She could sense that he wasn't being serious--not too serious, anyway--so she let it slide. He was probably some miserable prat who enjoyed picking on other students but really had no friends.

"I swear that these halls change, though!" She said in her defense.

Dakota shrugged. "Well yeah," he allowed. "But it's not like they change that much. You've been here four years, you should be able to predict the path's they're going to take." He shrugged, and pointed sort of vaguely. "Friday's evening switch really isn't that complicated to figure out."

He paused, a smirk on his lips. "Well. For some," he amended, eyeing her briefly before he continued on, reaching the top of the stairs and starting his decent. He wondered how long she'd put up with him, and if she'd somehow try to redeem herself from the idiot he'd now pegged her as.

Eline's eyes traveled back to him, her lips forming into a thin line. Was everyone trying to get on her nerves? First that pedophile-like seventh year and now this know-it-all fifth year. Couldn't she ever get a break? Apparently not!

"I'm not here often, or did you not catch that?" Be careful Eline, she tried to remind herself. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Dakota rolled his eyes slightly. "Am I supposed to apologize now?" he asked, glancing over his shoulder to her with a smirk on his face. If he was, he had no intentions of doing so. She had interrupted his walk, and forced him to lead her back down to the basement so that she could find her own way around.

Of course, she didn't seem to realize that if he was really as mean as he was pretending to be, he wouldn't have shown her the way back at all. That suited him just fine. He liked it better that way.

"You should bring a friend next time," he suggested. "Someone who does come here often? That way you won't come off looking like such a prat," he said. His tone suggested that he thought he was being helpful, but the way his eyes gleamed indicated he knew he was being a prat.

Honey and vinegar, honey and vinegar. She was trying her best not to hit him right now. She didn't understand how someone could be so... aggravating. She half wondered if she annoyed people like that but she doubted it. Sure, she could be kind of bitchy but it was never intentional. She didn't purposely try to belittle someone. Not to people she didn't know, anyway.

She wondered why he was being such a prat, though. He probably didn't have any friends, like she had previously guessed so when the potential of one came around he got so internally excited that he ended up screwing it all up. Yeah, that had to be it.

"I'm the one who looks like a prat?" She asked rhetorically. He had some nerve... "Well I think you might want to look in a mirror cause it's scrawled across your forehead!" Though if he looked in a mirror it would come up backwards... She hoped that he didn't desert her now that she had kind of snapped.

"That so?" Dakota asked, mildly amused. He tilted his head to the side to regard her as he continued down the stairs, before reaching up to pat at his forehead curiously. "Good thing I'm letting everyone know then. I would hate to run into some foolish students when I'm out for an evening stroll, who then need me to show them the way back to their dormitories, because they got lost at a school they've attended for four years..."

He paused. "Oh wait. That already happened. Well drat. I guess it was just hard to see in that lighting."

He knew prat wasn't scrawled across his forehead - but really, that was such a dumb insult. He thought he might as well add a bit of pizazz to it.

What did he care, anyway? He had no interest in being friends with anyone here. So he didn't really care what anyone thought of him.
