October 2, 2020 -- You're all beautiful.
Who: Eline, Tris and Lan.
Where: Around the lake. Hope nobody falls in, it would be terrible to photograph wet people.
When: After breakfast.
Rating: PG
Status: Closed/Complete
Summary: Madame photographer, at your service! Remember no ugly models.

Eline was pretty excited. She’d get to do her first portfolio of anyone other then her sister, Elaine. It wasn’t like she liked taking pictures of Elaine… it was just like looking in a mirror, and her twin tended to get distracted easily. It wasn’t her fault but…

Sitting down on the grass she dusted off her robes wondering how long it would take for Sabryna to appear. Er… or anyone else. After that whole thing with her journal she wasn’t even sure who was coming, honestly. So she’d wait, impatiently of course. She felt like Sabryna, she was jumping out of her skin.

It was, he thought, a small price to pay. He and Lan had hexed each other - but only with things they knew how to undo - so they were now buck-toothed, faces covered in boils, and extremely shaggy eyebrows. Tristan was grinning like an idiot as he made his way to the lake.

"Oh, ears," he said to Lan.

"Miss Sumner's just going to leave you like that when she finds out we did it on purpose," Lan warned him as he slipped his wand out all the same.

"She wouldn't," Tris decided, doing his best not to flinch as Lan flicked his wand toward his ears and he felt them puffing up a little and extending slightly.

"She might," Lan continued as they started off toward the lake. He glanced over to Tristan, and shook his head slightly. The lengths he'd go to to make a point.

Once they were within sight of Eline, Tris' grin broadened. "Oi, I heard something about pictures out here today?"

Eline didn't bother to stand. She was pretty sure she knew Tris's voice anywhere, and wherever Tristan was Lan was somewhere near. She glanced at the two, and almost fell over when she saw them.

"What the hell did you do?!"Eline exclaimed, blinking a few times. Was that really them? Well if it wasn't, she probably had offended someone greatly. Well... it wasn't like she cared that much. She never did.

"What d'you mean, what did we do?" Lan asked innocently. "We always look like this," he continued - though it was hard to do so with a straight face. "You said we could come have our pictures taken."

"I believe you even said deformities were encouraged. We had to work on this all morning," Tris continued earnestly, a grin stretching his own lips before he looked around. "So, where should we stand?"

Eline shook her head, smiling. Okay maybe she was being incredibly shallow, but that's just how she did things. Although... this could be fun, on an artistic aspect. It was a bit avant-garde and she liked that. It would definitely provide as good memories, if all else failed.

She stood up, swiped her bangs out of her eyes then pulled the camera off its tripod. "You guys are so..." she couldn't necessarily find a word so she just pointed on a spot by the lake. "Stand over there," she told them, raising the camera to eye level.

Tristan laughed, surprised. "Seriously? We didn't think you would." He paused, then sniffled dramatically. "I'm so ... honored!" he cried out before he wrapped his arms around Eline, fake-sobbing against her shoulder. "You don't know how much this means to me!"

Landon cracked up before he reached out to snag the back of Tristan's shirt, pulling him closer to the lake. "C'mon. Don't scare the photographer, or she'll change her mind."

"Right, right," he agreed as he slung an arm around Landon's shoulders, grinning broadly to Eline. "Ready when you are."

Eline got a few shots, but just looking at the state they were in made her burst out laughing. See, this lot was very unprofessional. She decided not to voice her conclusion, though.

"G--Merlin you guys are insane!" Eline exclaimed once she was through her laughing fit. She got one more shot before she motioned for them to find a new spot.

"How d'you know we're not perfectly sane, and you're the insane one? I mean, what's the fun of having an album full of beautiful people, when you could have some people with character - like us?"

Tris grinned as he moved to lean against a large rock by the lake.

Lan grinned lightly as he climbed up behind Tristan on the rock, doing "bunny ears" with both hands behind Tristan's head before he screamed, "oh my god it's a mutant rabbit!"

Tris leapt forward as if panicked. "Where?! Where?!"

Lan laughed as he resettled on the rock. "Oh, nevermind. That was you. I just needed you to move so I could put my legs there," he pointed out as his legs slid to where Tris' back had been before.

Eline grinned and moved a bit closer, capturing the moment where Tris had jumped about ten feet in the air. Well maybe it was a good thing that they came.

"Yeah, maybe I'm insane, but at least I'm not a mutant rabbit." Eline smirked, getting another shot. "So are those hexes permanent?" she asked curiously.

"We dunno," Lan admitted. "We just found them in a book and thought they were a good way to go. I mean, if we can't undo them, maybe the healer can..." he trailed off and grinned before he shook his head. "No. We can reverse them."

He pointed his wand at Tristan, flicking it a few times to undo the hexes he'd put on him before undoing his own. She had evidence already, after all.

Tris grinned. "Better a mutant rabbit than a regular one?" he said before he glanced to Lan. "That's what we should learn to do. Transfigure ourselves into rabbits."

"Um. No. With my luck, I'd be hopping along as a rabbit, and you'd come by as a wolf and eat me or something. If I'm going to learn to be an animagus, I'll turn into something bigger than you. Like a polar bear."

"Polar bears are cute," Eline said. "But I think you'd get a little too hot. They're fat and furry." Eline's patronous was a rabbit, she had tried a few times and even though it only appeared for zero-point-two seconds, she was pretty sure what showed up was a rabbit...

Eline began to tweak with her camera's settings, wondering if she should still take pictures.

"Well, Lan's cute, so I guess that works," Tris said. "And if you hadn't noticed, it gets pretty cold here at night. It even snows." He paused. "Well, during the nine months that are winter, anyway."

Lan laughed quietly. "Tris, only four of the months are actually winter. We just have fall and spring snows, that's all."

"Same thing, isn't it?" He leaned against the rock and against Lan. "Besides, if you turned into a polar bear, you might eat me. And that wouldn't be any fun for any of us."

"Hmm... Lan you should go turn into a polar bear and eat Tris. That'd be fun to see." Eline took a picture of the two, but it didn't make an obnoxious flash, as it always did. She looked puzzlingly toward her camera.

"Your former ugliness broke it," she announced to them. In truth, she was pretty sure it had broken from last night when she dropped it...

"But ... if I ate Tristan, who would I have to hang out with?" Lan frowned lightly, then cocked his head toward Eli when she mentioned her camera. "Can you fix it?"

"She's a witch," Tris pointed out. "And there are mending spells. Or there's Professor Silver," he pointed out. She'd probably know how to fix Muggle things.

"Yeah... I probably can. My digital camera is a home though because electronics don't work at Hogwarts so if this one breaks I won't have one for a while..." she muttered. Eline turned it around a few times, trying to determine if it really was broken or if she just flicked the wrong switch or something.

"You silly Muggleborns and your silly electronics," Tristan said, shaking his head sadly. "Does make you wonder what it is about the school that makes them not work though."

"Oh, I dunno," Lan said. "Maybe all the wards, charms, and protections might tangle with the magic. And it isn't like we can have powerlines running into a place that," he paused and did air quotes, "doesn't exist."

Tris blinked. Then slowly looked to Lan. "Wait, what? Did you just say we don't exist?" He looked around wildly. "Oh, who said that? Now I'm hearing voices!"

"Yes, you don't exist. Neither do the thestrals that pull the carriages, they actually pull themselves." Eline put her camera in her bag, sighing. Yeah, she had broken it.

She sometimes wished thestrals didn't exist, she was terribly afraid of them.

Lan shifted uncomfortably. If she could see them ...

... but maybe she just knew about them. "Can you see them?" he asked gently, though he reasoned that would beg the question 'who did you see die' and he wondered if Tristan would have the tact not to ask it - and reasoned he wouldn't.

Tris tilted his head curiously as he waited to hear Eline's answer.

Eline shook her head. "Not exactly... but I know when they're around. I was in the next room over when my grandfather died but I didn't actually see him die. He was old..." Eline swiped her bangs out of her eyes. She said it kind of easily, her grandfather had died when she was four so she had a few memories of him, but not enough for her to burst into tears at every mention of him. "I was four so I didn't really understand."

Tris nodded, but didn't look at Landon. Not that Lan had seen his father bite it, or anything, but still. The wound wasn't exactly that old. "So, right, now that we've had depressing topic of the day, let's venture into something more cheerful. Like ..."

"The fact that we've finally found a flea collar that will work for you?" Lan asked Tristan with a little grin.

"Wasn't really where I was headed with that, but okay. So," he said to Eline. "Apparently, they found this flea collar that will work for me now."

"I didn't know you had fleas." Eline said, smiling slightly. She preferred talking about Tristan's fleas to talking about dead people, but who didn't?

"You know, you could get a disease from fleas, maybe the next plague." Eline told Tristan.

"I don't ... actually have them." He said, wondering if she'd really thought they were serious. He thought everyone knew after their first year that nearly everything they said was a joke or an exaggeration. "But thanks for the biology lesson," he continued with a grin.

Eline blinked. "I know you don't have fleas, maybe I'm going overboard with the sarcasm..." she muttered. Was there ever a time when she wasn't sarcastic? Not a lot of times, anyway. Maybe that's why she got along with Tris and Lan.

Lan grinned slightly, shaking his head a little. "Jeeze, Tristan, don't you recognize sarcasm when you hear it?"

"Sarcasm? I didn't think we had that here," he murmured, brow furrowing. "So to answer your question, no, I don't recognize it when I hear it."

Lan chuckled softly before he tilted his head slightly. "Were you expecting more people?" he inquired of Eline. He did see a few bodies milling about; maybe they were here for pictures, too?

"I thought Sabryna would be coming but I haven't seen her... I suppose something held her up." Eline ran her fingers though her hair then glanced around. No sign of Sabryna. She was kind of looking forward to shooting Sabryna... Oh well. There was always another time.

"Or she saw us out here, was overcome with terror, and ran away." Tris nodded. It could have happened; he and Lan had been pretty horrific-looking earlier.

"We should go look for her," Lan offered. "Maybe if we go away she'll show up. Like magic."

"Yeah, I'll go check the common room. See you later." Eline waved to them before she began the walk to the castle. She always hated the walk. It was so long...
