He rubbed her back a little as she clung to him, and he tried to be as there for her as he could be. A warm embrace that wasn't going anywhere. "You're not disappointing me," he assured her first, because that was ridiculous. "you're like, my best friend, you know that, right? So you're not letting me down. And you don't owe me an explanation, either, your decisions are your decisions, and you don't have to...you just don't have to. You don't have to do anything. I'm still here."
His voice had a conviction in it that was pure. He cared about her more than enough to give her whatever she wanted and if that meant a big no on things for them, then...well, that sucked, but he wasn't going to hold it against her, and he most certainly wasn't going to be disappointed. He'd never thought there was a shot in the first place, so he guessed it wouldn't be that different, right? Maybe.
Either way, he was her friend first, and he was going to continue to be that for as long as she would have him.
