“Firepower ain’t the issue,” another growl crackled through the communication link. Alpha had dealt with this type of manpower before, and efficiently came out on top. “I’m not putting her down.” It was that militant mentality that wouldn’t allow him to just leave her behind. This was an entirely different situation. Typically her body was offsite, and not in the midst of all this chaos. If they were going to get out, she was going to take her dead body with him.
Her body was effortless brought up from the floor, ignoring any blood, and other bodily matter that got on him to lay her across the back of both his shoulders. One arm securely held her in place as he ducked behind another stack of wooden pallets.
“Isn’t that supposed to be surveillance?” The annoyance was digging into his nerves now. His jaw tensed as teeth gritted together. “I’ll keep my eyes fuckin’ peeled.” He peered around the corner, the barrel of desert eagle pointing at whoever dared to be within eye-shot of Onslaught. His healing, and physical conditions may have been hindered by some unseen force, but his aim had come with years of practice.
“Backlash, what’s your location? Watch out for a big mother fucker. He don’t like to play nice,” he warned, pressing on closer to one of the exits. “Blitz,” he paused, dipping behind another stack of pallets. “You think you can blast these fuckers out the way?”
His gaze bounced around the warehouse trying to figure out where the hell this device was. It couldn’t have been gas because they would have needed a large amount of it, and potent enough for his abilities to even affected.
“Steele. Phantom ain’t ghosting! Where the fuck did you get your intel from?” His head jerked to one side, his attention being reeled towards yelling off in the distance, but not too far away from him. An elbow pushed himself up, and away from the pallets. Meredith’s dead body still being lugged around on his shoulders. He emerged onto the scene just in time to see a few of Scuito’s men about to round up Gemini.
“She ain’t yours boys,” he said, catching a few by surprise, and dropping to the ground with bullets sprayed in their direction.
