Chase was still getting used to this place. It was a trip, that was to be sure. He also still seemed to get lost, even if he was sure he was the only one in the history of people who walked the halls here to do it. He felt like he needed to pull the lipstick trick from Labyrinth, and mark his path that way. Unhelpfully, his brain reminded him that it hadn't worked for Sarah.
He was walking around with his hands shoved into the pockets of his red hoodie, looking a whole lot less where he was going than your average person. His eyes were much more on the ceilings, the walls, the doors he passed. So when he was abruptly crashed into, he was totally unprepared for it, and was on his ass in a second.
Embarrassment flooded through his system, some from her, some from himself, though he couldn't tell the difference and had no idea what this girl could do. All he did know was he looked up at her and blinked stupidly, mouth open as he had been going to apologize, but he was pulled up short by pretty.
She really was the prettiest girl he'd seen in ever. Snow White his mind supplied, catching the dark hair and pale complexion, her stormy eyes.
It took him a second to get his bearings, and realize he was staring up at her like a total idiot. He flushed deep red, and scrambled to help pick up her pencils. "I'm sorry!" he said. "I didn't see you because I...wasn't paying attention! Which is a shitty excuse, I should pay attention, because that's what people who are smart do when they're walking around unfamiliar places and I guess that makes me a dumbass," he rambled, pushing himself to his feet with a mitt full of colored pencils for her. "Are you okay?" he asked. "Please don't smite me. I am squishy, like a marshmallow."
