Vanessa looked up at him as he spoke to let him know she was listening, her head nodding, making soft sounds in her throat when it was appropriate to. It was interesting to her, to see how it was that Chase looked at the world. He was terribly ... optimistic. And she found it hard to be, herself. His experiences were entirely different from her own, but she thought it was nice that even after things had happened to him he was able to keep that positivity about him. It was something she struggled with - trusting people, seeing the best in people... it didn't always come so easily to her. There were very few people she allowed in.
It endeared him to her, and she smiled at him, her eyes crinkling up before she leaned in and pressed a kiss to his forehead. I bet people really love you, too she offered, dropping her head back down to his chest. The slip of his fingers through her hair was comforting.
