Vanessa smiled. It was obvious that Chase cared for her; they'd become rather close the last few months since he'd come to the program and he was probably the closest friend that she had there. It was nice to have someone to hang out with, to talk to, and he was terribly sweet. Vanessa wasn't so naive as to not notice how he felt about her but she hadn't really figured out her own feelings yet - and part of her wasn't even sure if there was any point to coupling up anyway, outside of the occasional tryst like she'd had with Preston, blowing off steam and releasing tension. It wasn't like she'd ever get to marry or have children or really have anything even remotely resembling a 'real' relationship like people on the outside had.
But nonetheless, Chase meant something to her and she appreciated that she meant something to him. Her arms wrapped around him again, tighter, and she kissed his cheek sweetly as she nodded. I know.
