Another shiver ran through her and Vanessa pressed closer, tucking her head beneath his chin. She wrapped her arms around Chase in return, her slender fingers curling to clutch the fabric of his shirt. She nodded her head, letting her nails rake gently over his back. Vanessa could feel his heartbeat and she closed her eyes, focusing on the rhythm of it, letting it center her, trying to exhale deeply, as if she could somehow push out the sense of dread that washed over her whenever she thought about Nicholas.
I'd be okay. Worse comes to worst, I'd take off my collar and tell him never to speak to me or anyone else I care about ever again, I guess. But he's still super creepy and unsettling. But as soon as everything is official, I'll let you know what room I'm in and stuff. I should probably tell Ears he's going to have this one to himself soon...
