Who: Michiru Kaioh and Legolas
When: Day 28, dawn
What: Michiru joins Legolas to greet the dawn
Rating: PG is probably safe
Status: Complete

Michiru slipped out of bed as quietly as possible so as not to wake up Haruka. She dressed as warmly as possible, not sure what kind of wintery mess the Planet might throw at her today, complete with a pair of fingerless gloves. She picked up the violin and jotted a quick note to Haruka. She didn't want her lover to think she'd been kidnapped again. Though, to be safe she grabbed both her communicator and mirror. Not that she worried much about Legolas, but with this fool Planet, who could tell what might happen.

As she walked outside she was glad she'd taken the time to bundle up. It was snowing heavily, and wintery cold. Not the best day to be playing violin outside, and if she was home, she would have refused. The cold and wet could do horrible things to wood and strings, and she'd never put her beloved instrument through such irreparable torture. But here she had only the Planet's inferior copy instrument, and she had little doubt the Planet would replace it as many times as it had to. So she tried not to worry about it and instead worked on finding the place Legolas had described.

It didn't take long, but the elf was already there when she arrived.
"Good morning sir!" she said with a bow. "I'm beginning to wonder if you ever sleep"

Oh, this was fun. The girl knew how to play the game. Elves live a very long time, they had to find some fun way to pass the time, so flirting was practically an art form with them. So many took it to mean more than it did, but he'd met Michiru's lover and knew that that wasn't going to happen here. So he returned her wink with one of his own and a very flirtatious smile.

It should have been impossible for him to know when the sun rose in the mess of snow that they were standing in, but somehow, he did. He felt it ias it rose up over the horizen, and his singing took on a different note. Before, it had been somewhat imploring, as if he were asking the sun to do him a favor and rise. Now, it was more joyful, grateful that once more, the sun had seen fit to come back once more.

The music swelled behind him, enhancing but not overbearing his song. It made it that much better. Finally, when the sun had fully cleared the horizen, brighting a sort of lighter shade of grey light, he turned to his blue-haired friend. "My thanks... my lady, your beauty is matched only by your talent. The sun could not help but rise, when he heard how you play."

Michiru let the final notes die away before she untucked the violin from between her chin and shoulder. She lightly brushed away the small amount of snow that had accumulated while she'd played. A critical glance told her that the moisture was definitely going to take it out of tune quickly, but there was probably no lasting damage done. She packed the instrument away and smiled up at Legolas.

"I would have been rather offended had it not. We are both masters at our arts. It would be have been rude to ignore us" She stood and shook the snow from her hair. "Your song was truly beautiful" she said, her tone serious. She was not one to compliment lightly, but she meant it. She knew many singers, but none that could match the elf's purity of tone.

"Indeed, my lady Sea-hair." He nodded and bowed to her. "That was incredible. It is a wonder the sun thought to come up before we were here to coax it out." He ran his fingers through his long blond hair, dislodging the snow before it could melt.

"It is cold, though, is it not?" He tilted his head inquisitively at her. "Perhaps, if you would be willing, we could go have a drink? My friend Marcus showed me this very strange drink from his own time. It was called cocoa."

He smiled, remembering the creamy taste of the drink. It was also warm, and he knew that Michiru must be feeling the temperature, even if he wasn't.

Michiru had been doing her level best to ignore the cold. However, the wind had started to worm its way inside her jacket and her fingertips were more than a little numb. A hot drink sounded like a wonderful idea.

"Lead on my lord" she said, with a trace of amusement. "Hot cocoa sound wonderful right now" She picked up the violin case, holding it tightly so her unprotected fingertips could get warm in her palm.

The blond prince looked at her, concern showing on his fine-featured face. As the wind blew, he saw her shiver slightly. Frowning, he unwrapped his cloak and set it around her shoulders. It was nice that the Planet kept him stocked, since he'd given one to that other girl, too.

"It seems my service is to be simple. I must keep all of Mirage warm with my cloak." He laughed, and then remembered she would have no idea what he was talking about. "I met a strange girl who drank alchohol in the snow. She was nearly frozen, but barely accepted my cloak." He thought about that. "Actually, I believe she only did because I gave her little choice."

With that, he led her through the snow toward the main building. The white stuff was piling up heavily now, and even he would have been bogged down if he couldn't stride along on top of the snow with no problem.

Michiru accepted the cloak gratefully. She had worn a coat of course, but the extra layer helped more than she was really willing to admit. And it seemed the cold bothered him less than it did her, so she wasn't about to feel guilty about the extra warmth.

She declined to reply to his comment, focusing instead on moving though the heavy snow. While she considered herself rather graceful, she couldn't glide across the snow like the elf could. So it was slower going for her. By the time they reached the building she was breathing harder than she'd like. Not that she'd show it of course. Instead, she went inside quickly. A hot drink would warm her up quickest.

One of Legolas' best features was that he wasn't too worried about other people keeping their own silence. Some got offended, but he didn't mind. He liked to talk, and if the other person wanted to chat, that was fine. If not, that was great too. He trusted that, if it was desired that he shut up, someone would tell him.

He reached the door first and held it politely open for her before slipping inside as well. The relief from the wind was instant, and the elf shook the snow out of his hair once more before knocking the substance off his tunic.

"It seems that we have made it, then." He smiled at her and then looked around. "The cafe is this way, I believe." He had excellent direction sense, and was soon leading them off toward the cafe. Even he, with his resistance to cold, was glad to be out of the weather. "I wonder if the Planet has some new mischief planned." He murmured softly, almost to himself. "It sometimes does some very strange things."

Michiru favored Legolas with a small smile as he held the door for her. Indeed it was much warmer inside, and she was soon feeling more human.

"The Planet does seem to love extreme weather" she said, in response to Legolas's comment as they reached the cafe. "I hope it's not portentous of more mischief." She shook her head slightly as they entered the cafe. She didn't want to think what more mischief the Planet could get up to.

She found a table near a window. She enjoyed watching the weather, even if it wasn't pleasant to be out in it. One of the few things she really liked about this place was the prompt service. She'd barely sat down before a golem was at the table to take her order. "Cocoa please" she said

For once, he was quiet as he thought. What sort of mischief could the Planet be planning? It had, after all, showed a bit of a flair for the dramatic. And that was putting it lightly, really. He frowned softly as they entered the warm, fragrant cafe and followed Michiru to her chosen table.

"Well, I supposed that it does not matter." He finally concluded. "If there is some nefarious plot afoot, there is little that I can do... unless I were to grow wings and fly to do battle with the snow itself." He grinned at that mental image.

"Yes, I would like a coca, too." He paused and thought about ordering honey-cakes, but that's what he'd done when he'd been with Marcus and he didn't seem to remember that it tasted too good together. "Perhaps something with mint in it on the side?" The golem seemed to take that as an order as it trudged off. He turned to his companion and smiled. "So, my lady, it seems that of our impromptu music group, you and I are the only ones who are left."

She hadn't really checked around, but she'd take Legolas's word that the other two women she'd met were gone now. Why? Why had some people disappeared, and not others? If they had been sent home, why not her and Haruka? It made little sense, but then again, what on this place did?

"If anyone had to be left here, I'm glad it was you" she said, with a teasing smile. "You are certainly one of the most... interesting people I've met. Sad though. I would have liked to hear more from either of the other ladies" If she was honest, the one who claimed to have been a star intimidated her a bit. But she wasn't going to let anyone, even the elf know that.

"Perhaps we can find others. I saw quite a few unfamiliar faces at the party"

The elf laughed and shook his head slightly. He was glad he was interesting, though. It was better than the alternative. As for the people who had been taken, he'd already thought of them a lot. He had come to the conclusion there was no way he could figure it out, and though he was sad to lose his friends, he was resigned.

"I am glad that you were not taken. You are one of the best friends I have made here." He nodded at her, and then looked up warily when motion caught his eye. It was just the golem coming back with their hot chocolate, and some little mint flavored chocolate cakes. Carefully, he took one and ate a small bit.

"Oh, it is quite good." He took another bite, then set it down. "I think that is a brilliant idea. Perhaps we could do as you did last time, put up those papers and see who responds."

Michiru accepted her hot chocolate from the golem with a reflexive 'thank you' and blew gently on the hot drink. Mostly she was enjoying letting the warmth from the mug thaw out her fingers.

"Perhaps" she said, sipping the chocolate. "Not today though" After this she wanted to enjoy the rest of the snow from inside, somewhere warm rather than traipsing around to the different buildings. And all the new arrivals probably could use a day or so to settle in.

"Even if we can't find others however, I am always willing to play for you."

The elf leaned back in his chair, watching the snow fall outside. It was quite thick and heavy, and very pretty. However, even though he was in no danger from the storm outside, he would rather be inside where it was warm. Of course, the company didn't hurt, either.

"No, my Lady." He agreed. "Someday soon, perhaps. I shall keep a wary eye out, however, for those who share our tastes." He smiled at her and sipped at his cocoa. "Tell me, how fares your Haruka? I find that I rarely see her about, which saddens me."

It was even true. Though Haruka had been somewhat wary toward him at first, he felt that by the end they had learned to trust each other, at least a little. He was a friendly being, by nature, and had hoped to make friends of both Michiru and her lover.
