Day Twenty Five

What: Random meeting
When: Early evening
Where: Roaming the grounds
Rating: It's Armand. At least PG, but will change as needed
Status Incomplete

In reality, Armand was quite content. Sure, he knew from experience that it couldn't possibly last, but for now, he was doing well. He had the love of the Brat Prince himself, he had the glorious possibility of tracking down those who had hurt Lestat and punishing them, and he was really quite pleased with the way life was going. Soon, he would go track down the alien Riddick, and he would deal with him. It was only a matter of time.

For now, however, he felt the need to be alone, to simply process everything that had happened. Only a few short weeks ago, he'd been ready to die for the holy relic of the Veronica. Now, he felt more alive (as such) than he had in a long time. He felt like celebrating. He didn't much like the cold, of course, but that was a small price to pay for the wonder of the sky, which was still tinged with violet from the sunset. He'd arisen quite early, and quite filled with an irresistable wanderlust.

Out into the snow he went, not really bothering with clothing that suited the weather. What did winter matter to someone who felt a lot like cold marble? And he'd dealt with quite a bit worse in the Parisian underground. So simple black slacks and a casual, but perfectly fitted, dark red shirt that appealed to him because it matched his hair and brought out the shades in his dark eyes, that would do nicely. The chill wind bit into him as he walked, hands in his pockets, looking nothing more than a lost boy.

He was quite aware of it when someone else came close to him. He stopped and looked around, and soon enough saw a small figure. She had the most remarkable hair he'd ever seen. Was this the Tonks person that Lestat had told him about? He stopped and watched her, an expression of curiousity clear on his angelic face. He waited, wondering if she would come closer. He wanted to talk to her.

Armand sensed her amusement, but he also sensed that she wasn't annoyed so it wasn't a bad thing. He did, however, hurry to explain himself. He hated to be thought of as the same as everyone else, and in truth, he'd seen odder things than aqua colored hair before.

"Lestat said that Tonks had bright hair, so I thought..." He shook his head and smiled charmingly at her. "No matter, though. Michiru Kaiou suits you much better." He'd thought it was a little odd that a Japanese woman would be called Tonks, anyway. "May I call you Michiru, or do you have a preference for Kaiou-san?" He'd been around enough Japanese people to know that the way they prefered to be addressed was of utmost importance to many of them.

"How long have you been here, then?" His eyes were drawn downward to her painting, and they widened. In life, he'd been an accomplished artist, and even now he knew he could pick up a paintbrush and do marvelous things with it. "Oh! May I see?"

"Just Michiru will be fine" she said with a slight bow of her head. Indeed, her name did suit her, quite well, a fact she'd always found mildly amusing. She caught his attention to her painting and smiled. Despite anything else one might say about her, she was still an artist, and as such did enjoy showing off her work. She lifted the canvas and held it out for Armand to see.

"It's not done yet" she said, which was true. She'd roughed in most of the major landscape features, but there were few details. Most of her time had been spent getting the sunset colors right and their reflection off the snow. "It'll probably need quite a few more hours of work, but I wanted to capture the sunset tonight"

This comment was acknowledged with a smile and a nod of his head. "Michiru. It's a pleasure." He really could be charming, in the way that an innocent child can. Of course, he only wore that guise, but in some ways he was still very much a little boy. Sort of eternally trapped between two worlds, actually, in more ways than one.

"Oh!" He smiled, delighted by her work. Even unfinished, it showed remarkable talent, and as a lover of art he appreciated it. He gazed raptly at the painting, noting every detail both finished and unfinished. "Beautiful." His voice rang with sincerity as he looked up from the painting at long last and turned to her.

"You are very good." There was no thought of false flattery there. Not when it came to art. He was very serious on a few subjects, and art was one of them.

Michiru found herself smiling at Armand's rather innocent charm. It wasn't the pure innocence of, say, Usagi, but few could match that girl's sweet innocence. And she was quite willing to let herself be charmed by a nice young man every so often. Especially one who complimented her so nicely on her art. She was long past any sort of false modesty and so just inclined her head slightly and said

"Thank you. I don't usually work on landscapes like this but..." she shrugged slightly. "You can't argue with artistic inspiration. Do you paint?"

It was quickly growning quite dark, but of course Armand had no problem with that. He could see equally well in the light or in he dark. He couldn't seem to look away from the painting, which really was very good.

"Yes, I... did paint. A long time ago." He thought back to Marius and his grand villa where he painted all night. That had been almost five hundred years ago, but he couldn't tell her that without seeming quite insane. And it would also require explanation, and he was liking this conversation too much to have her running off cause she was freaked out about his vampire state.

"The paintings I made, however, were much less realistic, less lifelike. This is stunning. How did you learn? Classes, or self taught?"

"Most of my work isn't realism" Michiru said, glancing down at the painting. It had been a while since she'd had a chance to paint something just for fun. So often her subjects had been dictated by dreams or feelings. Painting had long been her way of taking those impressions and getting them down so she could analyze them.

"I am mostly self taught. Art has always just come naturally to me, I guess. Never thought too much about it. I've taken classes, but that was mostly for the access to a dedicated studio so I didn't drive my housemates crazy with paint and canvases all over the place." Granted, neither Setsuna, Hotaru or Haruka had ever complained about such things, but it was a good excuse, especially when she was working on things she didn't want them seeing. She wondered what had happened to the last piece she'd been working on, the one inspired by her fears of the upcoming battle with Galaxia.

"In general I've found more abstract work more... effective at getting a point across. Still, this scene was too beautiful to not try and capture." She shifted her grip on the painting and dropped it back to her side. "You say you did paint. Why no more?"

Armand nodded slightly, a little bit lost in his own thoughts. He remembered how different it had been to go to Italy, and how the art had changed as well. He had done the realistic style, but didn't enjoy it nearly as much. He liked to look at it, however. "I see. Well, I would very much like to look at an example of the impressionistic or abstract pieces you have done, if you would agree to it."

He was starting to think he understood just why he'd been drawn to her, though just a love of art didn't explain it entirely. There was still more to learn about this girl, he figured. "I worked with..." Monks, he had been about to say, but he hesitated. He might have a hard time explaining if they got too far into it. "Some very talented artists, they helped raise me." Which was true, and also more vague.

Only then she was asking him questions, and he had to stop and think a bit more. For whatever reason, he didn't want to lie to her. Not that he normally had any problems doing so, but it just didn't feel right here. "I... I was raised in the Ukraine, and the art style there was quite different. Then, I was brought to Italy, and the new style was opressive to me. I stopped." Anxiously, he looked at her, wondering if he'd given her too many hints as to his past.

"Sadly the planet hardly grabbed up my entire studio when it nabbed me" Michiru said with a slight sardonic laugh. "This is the first piece I've worked on since being here." Which was true. When she'd first arrived she hadn't felt much like painting, and since then she hadn't felt the desire to.

She listened as he talked about being raised by artists and some of the places he'd been. There was something odd about what he said though, something that tickled at her intuition, like he wasn't telling her everything. Interesting.

"You certainly have traveled" she said mildly, wondering what he was so anxious about. "I've seen some of Europe, though it was on a whirlwind concert tour, so I didn't get to enjoy a lot of it. Never been to the Ukraine though. Is it nice?" She thought for a moment. "They do a lot of religious art there right? Very stylized?"
