Who: Sam and Faith
What: Hunter and Slayer meet
When: Afternoon, Day 22
Where: The bar
Rating: PG-13
Status: Complete - Dropped

Sam sighed, taking another drink of his beer. He eyed the golem who stood motionless behind the bar. It was kind of creepy. The golem hadn't moved after Sam had asked for a beer until he'd finished it and asked for a second. Still, at least he didn't have to pay for it...

Sam was, honestly, bored. Lonely, too. He'd been traveling with Dean for almost two years; it was weird to be away from him after all that time. And he'd come from a life of hunting down demons for a job. He wondered if this is what his life would have been like if he was never a hunter. Well, it wouldn't be quite like this. Here, he could do whatever he wanted, got whatever he really needed... at least as far as material things went.

He wished he was back where he'd come from. Not that he liked hunting. It was just... now that he knew about the things out there, he felt he didn't have a choice but to fight. He'd tried to run away from it before and people had gotten hurt because of it. Jess had died. If he fought, other people didn't have to. If innocent people didn't have to become like him, then he would hunt. Sitting here, though, with no demon in sight... It was starting to drive Sam crazy. He wanted to do something... something productive, even if it wasn't hunting down a demon. He was getting tired of sitting on his ass, doing whatever he wanted to all day.

The dark-haired girl was walking down the ally, a blonde woman by her side, laughing and joking with her as they staked vampire after vampire through the heart. She wasn't paying much attention to what she was doing, so when something lunged at her, she didn't think. She simply turned around, raised her stake and... "Faith, no! That's not a..." But it was too late... the very human deputy mayor slumped to the ground, with her stake through his heart.

Faith awoke with a jolt, eyes burning, wanting so badly just to cry. But that wasn't how she rolled... it had been an accident! She didn't mean to kill him, he'd been in the way, she'd thought he was a vampire... she'd had no way of knowing. But then Buffy had known, a nagging little voice in her head argued. She shoved it away with the ease of long practice, but this time, it didn't leave as willingly. It kept coming back, telling her that she had killed, she had become a Slayer in all senses of the word.

Well, that was quite enough of that, as far as she was concerned. Technically, she wasn't of legal drinking age in the US, but that had never stopped her. Sure, it was only the early afternoon, but so what? She knew exactly where she was heading, exactly what would make the dream she'd had go away. So she grabbed an outfit typical of her, tight, revealing, and yet easy to move in, strapped her sword to her back, and headed off.

It took her next to no time to go to the bar. After all, it was a room she was seeking out with increasing frequency. Usually, though, she was alone. This time, she immediately noticed someone else was there. Cute... she had to admit that. She flashed him a smile, settled down on a barstool, and turned to the bartender golem. "Whiskey."

With one shot soon inside of her and another in front of her, she lit a cigarette and blew the smoke out. Already the alchohol was working, making her feel a little more like herself... she flicked her long, dark hair over her shoulders and turned to the only other occupant of the bar. "This is where one of us awkwardly says 'hey, come here often?' or something like that."

The first thing Sam noticed was the footsteps. He turned around to see a young woman enter the bar. The second thing he noticed was that she was, well, hot. The third thing he noticed was the sword strapped to her back when she sat down next to him.

"First time coming here, actually," Sam admitted. "You travel with a sword on you all the time?" he asked, wondering what its purpose was.

It didn't take her long to knock back the second shot and gesture to the bartender golem that she wanted a new one. Oh, yeah, the alchohol was just what she'd needed, the bad dream was fading away already. She smiled at the person next to her, much more at ease already. Now, she could focus more on him, and she rested her elbow on the bar, turned to face him, propping her chin in her hand.

"Not me... go crazy without this shit." She gestured to the bottles of alchohol behind the bar. "And yeah, course I do. How the hell am I gonna dust vamps without even a sword?" She shook her head. "Course, usually I would be carrying a stake, but since I'm not even allowed to kill the damn vamps here... the sword is better. Anyone messes with me, they get a taste of this." She drew the first couple of inches of the steel out of it's sheathe before letting it slip down again.

He raised an eyebrow when she ordered a third shot. Oh well, to each their own. When she mentioned vampires, however, he actually brightened. Was she another hunter?

"You fight vampires? So do I, among other things. Why do you do it?" he asked, unsure if she really was a hunter and from his world or if she was from a different one. "A demon killed my mom when I was a baby and my dad became a hunter to find the one who did it and get revenge. My brother and I were raised learning how to kill all sorts of demons." Normally, he would have been more reserved about speaking about his past, but here was someone who at least had some experience as a fighter. He hoped they could trade stories since there wasn't any kind of the action he was used to going on at the resort.

It was time to slow down. The Slayer, despite her generally reckless behavior, didn't get drunk very often. She did drink a lot, but her training had taught her the limits as far as alchohol. She would never, for example, drink to the point where she couldn't fight anymore. So she just ordered a beer next and sipped it slowly.

"Hell yeah, I'm the Slayer! I fight vamps, demons, really whatever big bad is around that gets on my tits, you know?" She allowed her dark-eyed gaze to take in the person beside her, eyebrows raising when he claimed to be a hunter. It wasn't a hard leap to go from hunter to Slayer, and she nodded thoughtfully. It was always kind of cool to meet someone who had the same sort of skills as she did.

"Why do I do it? Cause it gets me off." Which was true, but obviously not the entire reason. "Also, I don't gotta choice. When I was 15, a Slayer died, and I got all her powers. But it's cool, I dig the Slaying vibe." She listened to his story. "My parents thought I was possessed of the devil when I got them, so... whatever, fuck em."

Sam couldn't help hold back a smile at the mannerisms of the girl. She was... interesting. "So is there only one Slayer?" he asked. "Or is there a certain amount or something? How do you become one?" He was curious, already mentally comparing Slayers and hunters. "I know how the 'people think you're crazy' thing goes. Most of the time my brother and I just try and make it seem like it was all just some crazy story so they don't believe it. But sometimes you have to tell the truth." He shrugged. "Sam Winchester, by the way."

This came to a difficult point. She could lie, say she was the only Slayer, but... "Nah, there's two of us. Only supposed to be one, but B got herself knocked off, so some chick named Kendra took over. Then B was raised from the dead, so there were two, Kendra and B, with me so far?" She took a sip of her beer. "Anyway, then Kendra got herelf stabbed, and I took over."

She laughed and shook her head. "People are weird, but whatever, we know the truth, right? And they're just pissed cause we're better than them." She offered a smile. "Hey, Sam. Mind if I call you handsome? I'm Faith."
