Corran had to hand it to whoever ran the resort, they took very good care of the guests. His wardrobe was full of clothes for him and also Valin, and he never ran out of any food or other necessities for the baby. There was also a sort of backpack that Corran could carrying Valin around in. Also, to his glee, he found out that his X-Wing never ran out of fuel and was always in tip top condition. At first, he'd been wary that someone had been messing with it so he'd left Whistler to guard it. Whistler had reported, however, that no one had been near it. It mystified him but now he could go out for a spin whenever he wanted to.

The first day he'd been there, he'd tried to leave the planet on his starfighter. However, as he was flying towards space, warning bells went off in his head and he veered sharply away. Testing, he'd fired at nothing but air, only to have the shots bounce off some barrier. Try as he might, he wasn't able to get off the planet. He was glad he had his X-wing... but to be honest, he missed the excitement of missions. He missed his friends. He missed his wife. Corran wished there was some way to get in touch with Mirax, to let her know he was alright and Valin was with him.

One day, Corran woke up to discover the resort had changed into a snowy land. Since Valin had never seen know before, he decided, what the hell, he'd take advantaged of the situation. Bundling his son up warmly and dressing likewise, he left Whistler inside (didn't want the droid to get stuck in the snow) and went out.

He didn't go too far before he plopped down in the snow, scooping up some of the white and putting a bit on Valin's nose. The baby just looked up at his father like "What the heck did you just do, Dad?"

Corran laughed. "Now if I was like Luke, I could make a whole bunch of snowballs and make them float around for you. Best your old man can do, though, is make you think that snowballs are dancing around you, but you're too smart for that, aren't you, kid? You'd see right through your old dad," he said, adding a little bit of a coo at the end. If any of his fellow Rogue Squadron members saw him now, they'd probably tease him but at the moment, his son was one of the few things he cared deeply about that was still with him, so he didn't care if strangers saw him in a moment of silliness.

“I suppose you would not know. I do not know that vampires would be prone to traveling among the stars. They are nocturnal creatures who drink the blood from the living so they might survive themselves. They are said to be of the undead. The Sun destroys them. I recently discovered that vampires are wounded by the blood of stars, for we were fathered by the Sun, though the degree of the wounding is much less than from the Sun. Stars mostly take after their mother- the Moon.” Yvaine explained matter-of-factly, as if everyone should know such information.

“The Planet has a knowledgeable library. Perhaps you might be able to find information on Coruscant before it became a massive cityscape.” The evening star suggested. After all, she could be right. She had only visited the library once, but it had been large and filled with much information. However, she found no advise on the way home. The Planet’s message rang clearly in her mind.

A blond brow rose as she heard the tone his voice took. She had observed life among humans well enough to know a skeptic when she heard one. The other man she had met who had traveled among the stars had taken the same tone of disbelief. He did not have to believe her if he did not wish it, but it was still annoying, and she couldn’t help trying to persuade him. “Well, have you ever met a star?” If he hadn’t, he would have no solid proof that she could not be one.

Yvaine listened with interest as he told his less than joyful story. “That is sad. I am sorry for your loss.” She caught the look on his face as he gazed at his son. “At least you have one of your own with you here.” The evening star said gently. She had no one. He was lucky to have a son to raise. Family was important.
