Corran had to hand it to whoever ran the resort, they took very good care of the guests. His wardrobe was full of clothes for him and also Valin, and he never ran out of any food or other necessities for the baby. There was also a sort of backpack that Corran could carrying Valin around in. Also, to his glee, he found out that his X-Wing never ran out of fuel and was always in tip top condition. At first, he'd been wary that someone had been messing with it so he'd left Whistler to guard it. Whistler had reported, however, that no one had been near it. It mystified him but now he could go out for a spin whenever he wanted to.

The first day he'd been there, he'd tried to leave the planet on his starfighter. However, as he was flying towards space, warning bells went off in his head and he veered sharply away. Testing, he'd fired at nothing but air, only to have the shots bounce off some barrier. Try as he might, he wasn't able to get off the planet. He was glad he had his X-wing... but to be honest, he missed the excitement of missions. He missed his friends. He missed his wife. Corran wished there was some way to get in touch with Mirax, to let her know he was alright and Valin was with him.

One day, Corran woke up to discover the resort had changed into a snowy land. Since Valin had never seen know before, he decided, what the hell, he'd take advantaged of the situation. Bundling his son up warmly and dressing likewise, he left Whistler inside (didn't want the droid to get stuck in the snow) and went out.

He didn't go too far before he plopped down in the snow, scooping up some of the white and putting a bit on Valin's nose. The baby just looked up at his father like "What the heck did you just do, Dad?"

Corran laughed. "Now if I was like Luke, I could make a whole bunch of snowballs and make them float around for you. Best your old man can do, though, is make you think that snowballs are dancing around you, but you're too smart for that, aren't you, kid? You'd see right through your old dad," he said, adding a little bit of a coo at the end. If any of his fellow Rogue Squadron members saw him now, they'd probably tease him but at the moment, his son was one of the few things he cared deeply about that was still with him, so he didn't care if strangers saw him in a moment of silliness.

Yvaine laughed. It was a musical sort of sound that may have hinted at her skill as a singer. Her mirth faded slightly at the memory of how hard she had fought to rid herself of Lestat’s grasp and failed until he had tasted much of her blood. “Perhaps not. Stars are not so much stronger than humans. I know only that vampires must worry, lest we shed blood upon them.”

Her brows cinched. How could one have never heard of Earth? It seemed everyone who had been kidnapped was from Earth, yet this man was not. He was from Corellia and Coruscant. “Earth is lovely, though not all who inhabit it reflect this. There are small specklings of villages and towns and cities, but there is much left unexplored by humans. Perhaps that is why there is still much of nature left untouched by human hands. They do have a tendency to clear out the nature in favor of building houses and roads and the like.

“Yes, I suppose you are correct. I remember feeling quite devastated when I fell from the sky. It is my home as well. Trees do not grow among the stars. That is perhaps one thing I enjoy about this place. Nature is so beautiful up close. It is difficult to establish a proper view of it from the sky.”

Yvaine was positively fascinated with what he told her of his life. “Why did you have to leave?” Her curiosity could be perceived as being nosey. Stars led such boring lives at times that it was difficult not to be nosey, to become lost in the lives of others. Perhaps that was why plays and songs and folklore was so popular among the humans. They too felt they led boring lives, though the star could beg to differ.

"What's a vampire?" Corran had never heard of that kind of being before. "Earth, huh. Makes me wonder what Coruscant looked liked way before it became on big city."

As he listened to Yvaine, he started to think she was a little on the crazy side. She seemed to think that she was a star. So as not to offend her, Corran decided to just go with it. "Uh, right."

When asked why he had to leave, Corran frowned at the memory. "It's a long story. My father was also a security officer and he was killed by a bounty hunter. My boss let him go, then wanted us to go after Rebel shipping instead of focusing on taking down people who were hurting us. A lot of people didn't like this, including me. The government wasn't what it used to be anymore. A few friends and I made plans to leave but I was set up in an ambush and had to leave early." Corran looked down at his son and frowned slightly, remembering all the people he had had to leave behind. Some he had never seen again.
