Corran had to hand it to whoever ran the resort, they took very good care of the guests. His wardrobe was full of clothes for him and also Valin, and he never ran out of any food or other necessities for the baby. There was also a sort of backpack that Corran could carrying Valin around in. Also, to his glee, he found out that his X-Wing never ran out of fuel and was always in tip top condition. At first, he'd been wary that someone had been messing with it so he'd left Whistler to guard it. Whistler had reported, however, that no one had been near it. It mystified him but now he could go out for a spin whenever he wanted to.

The first day he'd been there, he'd tried to leave the planet on his starfighter. However, as he was flying towards space, warning bells went off in his head and he veered sharply away. Testing, he'd fired at nothing but air, only to have the shots bounce off some barrier. Try as he might, he wasn't able to get off the planet. He was glad he had his X-wing... but to be honest, he missed the excitement of missions. He missed his friends. He missed his wife. Corran wished there was some way to get in touch with Mirax, to let her know he was alright and Valin was with him.

One day, Corran woke up to discover the resort had changed into a snowy land. Since Valin had never seen know before, he decided, what the hell, he'd take advantaged of the situation. Bundling his son up warmly and dressing likewise, he left Whistler inside (didn't want the droid to get stuck in the snow) and went out.

He didn't go too far before he plopped down in the snow, scooping up some of the white and putting a bit on Valin's nose. The baby just looked up at his father like "What the heck did you just do, Dad?"

Corran laughed. "Now if I was like Luke, I could make a whole bunch of snowballs and make them float around for you. Best your old man can do, though, is make you think that snowballs are dancing around you, but you're too smart for that, aren't you, kid? You'd see right through your old dad," he said, adding a little bit of a coo at the end. If any of his fellow Rogue Squadron members saw him now, they'd probably tease him but at the moment, his son was one of the few things he cared deeply about that was still with him, so he didn't care if strangers saw him in a moment of silliness.

Yvaine was growing quite used to waking during the daylight hours and sleeping at night. She still wasn’t comfortable with it, but she was trying her best. What else could she do? No one could protect her from Lestat. He was just too powerful. The only reason she’d been victorious over him was because neither of them had realized what he drank was the blood of a sun. She was far weaker than the sun, but the vampire had drunken so much that it hardly mattered. Had she been mortal, he would have killed her.

The evening star woke about midday, but when she stepped outside, she found the world before her was white, and it was horribly cold. She would need new clothing to face this day. When she made her way back to her room, she found a bundle of thick, warm, soft clothing waiting for her. These were clothing such as she had never before seen, but they were far warmer than the clothing she had seen so many others don in her days. If she hadn’t been taken from so far into the past, she would have thought nothing of this modern apparel, but to her, it was futuristic and strange. What care had she when they did what they were meant to do?

She pulled the deep blue sweater over her head, pulling on the warm pants after that. She then proceeded to put on the thick socks, the warm, fur lined boots, and the gloves and jacket. Last she placed the had over her head to cover her ears. Despite the layers of clothing, she found she could move quite freely, and she thanks the Planet for the clothing that not only warmed her but also allowed for her natural grace.

Her boots dug deeply into the snow, but she didn’t mind, for she was warm and cozy in this apparel. Not too far from her, she heard the sound of laughter and a masculine voice cooing. It didn’t take long for her eyes to sweep over a man with his son. The sight made her heart swell. She loved to watch humans when their eyes spoke of love to another, whether they be through ties of family, of friendship, or of romantics. The child was beautiful, though he resembled a colourful marshmallow, so bundled was he against the weather.

Yvaine watched for a moment longer before decided she would like to meet these two. Her glow was much less, so bundled was she. Only her face and her long pale hair could be seen, but these glowed merrily. Against the vast whiteness and the sun, her glow was scarcely detectable. One could only think they imagined it in light of the pure snow about them.

“Hello.” The evening star greeted the man with a lovely smile.

Both Corran and Valin looked up at the woman as she approached. Valin stared at her for a second, then let out a loud happy squeal, wiggling as he flailed an arm at her.

"I guess he likes you," Corran said with a smile as he got to his feet, shifting Valin into a comfortable position in his left arm. He held out his right hand. "Corran Horn, and this is Valin."

He studied her for a moment, feeling there was something different, something he should be noticing about her... As he watched her face, he saw it. Her skin, and hair when he took a closer look, was glowing. Interesting, he thought silently, having never seen anything like that before.
